BIOS Update with a Westmere CPU

Pros: Solid.
Cons: BIOS may be outdated. * read other thoughts on a fix *
Overall Review: You can call Asus in the USA at 812-282-2787 op 1 op 3. Give them your serial # and they'll tell you your manufactured date. If your board was manufactured before March 2010, you will have an outdated BIOS. IF that is the case, they will sell you an updated BIOS chip for $5 + $15 ground shipping (from IN) or $25 overnight shipping. You just pop off the old chip and put on the new one, then boot up with a 5600 series CPU. Newegg may credit you up to $25 for your trouble, since the headline of this motherboard says 5600 CPU support.
Very powerful board with 13th gen CPUs

Pros: I went with an i7-13700k as I heard there were power limitations on the upper end of the i9-13900k(s) variations. This thing is fast, stable (ECC helps), and has lots of expansion compared to its x12 predecessor. I am using both the onboard ASPEED and Intel iGPU by setting Max TOLUD to between 1-2GB and enabling onboard as default video.
Cons: Advanced settings required to enable both onboard and integrated graphics.
Overall Review: I would definitely recommend this to any homelab server or professional workstation.
Great price, but be careful!

Pros: Great Price. Cheapest 24 bay solution I know of.
Cons: * BE CAREFUL * Check the backplanes BEFORE you turn on your power supply. Make sure that none of them have the power connectors opposite of each other. The molex connector should have the 45 degree slots on the bottom, so the top part of the connector is flat. If this is opposite, contact Norco immediately for a replacement. It will wreak havoc. They need better Quality Control.
Overall Review: With the 120mm fan wall (as cheap as $18 shipped from other retailers), this thing is great. I replaced all of the fans with quieter ones that have similar CFM.
Amazing drives, works with RAID

Pros: I have 20 of these and have never had one fail in RAID6 on an Areca 1680ix-24
Cons: none?
Great stock cooler

Pros: great cooler low price decent temps
Cons: none i can think of
Overall Review: been running this for about 3 months now and it's been excellent. no issues and the server has been up 24/7 since it went online the first time. i have another one of these in my wishlist for when i add a 2nd cpu, ram, hsf

Pros: Solid.
Cons: May come with old BIOS.
Overall Review: NOTE: If it comes with the OLD BIOS which does NOT support 5600 series CPUs, call ASUS at 812-282-2787 op 1 then op 3. They can send you an updated BIOS chip. $5 for the chip. $15 for ground shipping (from IN) $25 for overnight shipping newegg may or may not issue you up to a $25 credit for this due to the title of the board stating 5600 series CPU support.
