Most Favorable Review

quiet, and very configurable

Hitachi GST Deskstar E7K500 HDS725050KLA360 (0A31619) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Hitachi GST Deskstar E7K500 HDS725050KLA360 (0A31619) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Quiet drive, runs at cool temperatures. Feature Tool from Hitachi's website lets you configure many features of this drive.

Cons: Platters take a long time to spin up to their full speed (about 10 sec or so). But this isnt an issue unless you power-on/power-off your system and/or drive often.

Overall Review: After installing this drive, my motherboard detects it with no issues at all. I downloaded the feature tool from Hitachi's website to change it from SATA150 to SATA300. You can download the tool either as a bootable floppy or as a bootable CD image. This drive was very quiet at its default acoustic configuration (best performance/loudest operation). I used the feature tool to change the acoustic level to the quietest setting, and now I done hear any noise from the drive at all! I use this drive mostly for recording TV shows.

Most Critical Review
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders

Pros: Relatively stable. Gives full access to memory if you have 4GB+ of system memory. Aesthetically pleasing interface.

Cons: Not nearly as efficient and reliable as Windows XP. Vista is a memory hog.

Overall Review: I installed this to replace a 32-bit version of windows vista on my laptop to access the full range of the installed 4GB of memory. Vista in general is not nearly as efficient as windows XP, and uses up lots of memory. I would've installed XP 64-bit instead if there were compatible drivers available for my hardware. Would be interested to see what Windows 7 would be like when it is released next year.

Versatile tablet

ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T-B1-GR NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.60GHz 10.1" 1GB DDR3 Memory 32GB Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Gray Tablet PC
ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T-B1-GR NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.60GHz 10.1" 1GB DDR3 Memory 32GB Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Gray Tablet PC

Pros: -Powerful tablet -High resolution supporting 1080p -microHDMI output -Durable glass screen -Can be used as a netbook / small laptop replacement if you get the keyboard dock for it.

Cons: -The USB adapter that comes with it is a 5V 2.0A / 15V 1.2A, which makes this tablet incompatible with most universal USB chargers, which can only typically source 5v at up to 1.0A. But that may be true for other tablets as well. This is a minor nuisance however.

Overall Review: I have an old (but still runs) 15" laptop that I use as my home PC, and my smartphone is a bit too small for reading ebooks and articles, so I wanted a versatile mobile solution that I can use for reading, web browsing, and some document editing as I take it with me wherever I go. As I already have an android-based phone, I am already part of the android eco-system and have made many purchases on Google play. I bought this tablet and the keyboard supplement for it. I am very happy with it so far! I can use this as both a standalone tablet and a netbook. The keyboard dock (purchases separately) even functions as a secondary battery for the tablet.

Amazing for the price

SONY HT-SS360 5.1-Channel Home Theater System
SONY HT-SS360 5.1-Channel Home Theater System

Pros: You get alot for what you pay for this thing. Unlike other systems of its price range, this supports audio input through HDMI. Integrates well with PS3. Good sound quality. Come with auto-calibration microphone. Accepts up to 7.1 multi-channel PCM through HDMI (although will downmix to 5.1 since this is a 5.1 set). Receiver supports HDMI video pass-thru for up to 1080/60p and supports 1080/24p. Supports Bravia-Sync if you have Sony Bravia TV.

Cons: Doesn't come with iPod dock or speaker stands. But you can always get those separately if you need.

Overall Review: I have my cable box, PS3, and Xbox360 hooked up to this thing through HDMI. If you hook up a PS3 to this, you will need to set your audio output to Linear PCM instead of bitstream. This way, your ps3 will do all the decoding and send multi-channel PCM to this receiver, which it supports. According to the manual, it is implied that the receiver only supports Multi-channel PCM audio through HDMI, and nothing else, but supports DD 5.1 and DTS through optical/coaxial SPDIF. However, after turning off HDMI Control on the receiver, I was able to bitstream Dolby Digital 5.1 from my xbox360 to the receiver and it was able to decode it.

Does the job

Rosewill - A/V High Speed HDMI Cable - 6 FEET
Rosewill - A/V High Speed HDMI Cable - 6 FEET

Pros: It does what its intended for

Cons: Can get HDMI cables of similar quality for cheaper

Overall Review: I got this at a discounted price when I bought it with a home theater set.

very pleasing to the eye

Logitech K740 Illuminated USB Keyboard
Logitech K740 Illuminated USB Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard goes well with my desk and all my peripherals. It is aesthetically pleasing. The backlight is not overly bright.

Cons: Since this is a wired keyboard, it would be nice if this keyboard also acted as a USB port replicator (i.e. USB hub).

Overall Review: I bought this to replace a wireless keyboard due to security reasons. I didn't want a wired keyboard that was too bloated, nor something that is too plain. This keyboard is just right.
