My first fractal design case, and I am impressed
Pros: Impressed with the quality and design. I am an Antec fan since their P180 series case. I have 182, 280. But IMO, Fratal design is overall a better design case. The use of material is also of higher quality. Antec is still good, but Fratal is just better. I also like it a lot that they get rid of the 5.25" bay. For smaller case like this, 5.25" bay is just wasting spaces. The case is also good looking.
Cons: Case is quite heavy for it size due the extensive use of matal instead of plastic. The rubber/silicon gormet for holding the harddrive in the bracket could have been better (like the Antec's)
Overall Review: Overall I am impressed. I think I will ditch Antec and start using Fractal design case for my next upgrade.
Maybe a good cooler, night mare to mount, practially no support from USA side of the world
Pros: Quite, reasonable good performance at the noise level.
Cons: Nightmare to mount especially if your motherboard has VRM heatsink. For 1155/1150/1151, it very difficult to mount with the way the manual describes. The walk around is to put the CPU back plate and screw and secure the cooler from the back after putting the MB inside the case. It is a 2 man job to start the first screw. With 2011, the back access doesn't exist. You have to mount it from the front with that small provided wrench. It is next to impossible. Support from BeQuiet is poor in North American. First no distributors. Retailer like neweggs, knows little about this product (which I don't blame). Getting support form BeQuiet head quarter in Germany is next to impossible due to time zone difference. And they don't respond to online/email help inquiry. Overall very disspointed. A $50 cooler, bought for 1150 socket a while back. Now upgraded to 2011-v3, run into issues with mounting hardwares. No support of any kind can be found. I had to bought another cooler for the time being. This $50 cooler is a paper weight now.
Overall Review: Don't do it. The difficult mounting scheme along makes it an undesirable cooler at this price point. Add to the impossible to get support from BeQuiet, this is a very inconvinent brand for USA buyer. I won't buy BeQuiet brand again.
Not impressed, in fact disapointed. Over hype. Poor performance
Pros: Heavy, built quality felt good, quiet even at max RPM (~1800). Min RPM is low (~450), which is a good thing IMO for a quite PC
Cons: Replacement fan used on Zalman CNPS10X heat sink. Mounting pad reduce vibration. Extreme quiet at idle 450rpm. Still relatively quiet at max 1800rpm.
Overall Review: - Replacement fan used on Zalman CNPS10X heat sink. First, mounting is an issue. fan clip won't work with this fan by default. Some mod is needed. - Poorer performance compared to LEPA VORTEX 12 PWM (LPVX12P) - With both fan, my CPU, according to CPUID HW monitor, at 33C - With Prime95 running Small FFT, Fractal fan give 75C at max 1800rpm. LEPA is 71C at its max 1600rpm. Lepa is 200rpm slower and 4C cooler. - If you plan to use it on heasink similar to CNPS10x, then save your money and get Lepa. Overall, disappointed. Returning to newegg will incur restocking fees. I don't know what to do now
Good case, not live up the hype tho
Pros: All the praise and waive about this case is true to some extend. Just to list a few: quiet (decently, not extreme), roomy, good cable management, easy access side loading 3.5" bay, a lot of 3.5 bays ... You can read other review for the goods.
Cons: It is still a good case, but I think people who is looking should know what is the not so good part of this case. So here I go; 1. The structure the case is filmsy. Very soft/film top panel, bottom panel and motherboard tray. They all flex with minimal force. Once side panels are off, you can fell the case is flexing. R4 use side panel for structure integrity. Compare to Antec P182, a very solid structure case with soft plastic panel for sound damping. Very different approach, and I prefer P182 way. 2. Either power LED or HDD activity LED, but not both. Why cut the corner??? 3. Not so quiet. Not better than P182. Specifically, the top panel gives out a vibrate/humming sound, which I can stop by putting my hand on it. It is due to how think the top panel is. 4. size. It is bigger than I expected. It is wider and deeper than P182 which is already not small.
Overall Review: It is still a good a case consider the on sale price in new egg. It definitely doesn't not live up the internet hype especially coming from a high quality case like P182. Overall, I think the design and good, I like it. The execution can be better.
Quite, heavy, good cooling, paste can be better
Pros: Very good price with rebate. Quiet fan. Very cool CPU temp on i7-3770. Don't block RAM slot
Cons: Included thermal paste is very thin, liquid like. I wonder how it will stay if the mother board is mounted veritically with a little heat from CPU. LGA1155 back plate isn't very well thought out. It stays in place by double side foam tape. The alignment can be tricky. Heatsink mounting branket can be better. I wonder if enough pressure. I also use CM 212 Evo, mounting mechanism of CM 212 Evo while not ideal, but far superior than this. CM heatsink base is also better. But this has better heatsink and fan.
