does gigabit switch requires category 6 cable or category 5 cable is ok to use?

Make sure that the cables are at least 5e or higher specs if you want gigabit speeds. 5 will only do 100Mbps

Can this unit be wall-mounted - Are there the holes in the bottom, or a bracket?

Like most Netgear routers I've seen, this one has two T-shaped slots on the bottom for mounting screws. It can be mounted from a wall with plugs and lights facing up, down, or facing left.

Can this netgear switch be networked and monitored?

This is an unmanaged switch, so you cannot log into it, nor does it occupy an IP Address.  That being said, it is a high quality SOHO switch that is sturdy construction physical wise, as well as speed wise.  I have only had mine for a few months so I cannot attest to its longevity, but if it is consistent with the rest of the ProSafe line, it should last a long time.

WILL MY MODEM CONNECT TO THIS UNIT AND THEN ALLOW ME TO HOOK TWO ROKU PLAYERS,  TWO COMPUTERS, TWO 3D BLUE RAY VIDIO PLAYERS AND A 3D SHARP HD TV AND USE ANY TWO UNITS OR MORE AT THE SAME TIME?

Your modem has to connect to a router, then the switch will connect to the router and your other devices can connect to the switch, or to any empty router port.  Most routers now days have four ports.  Adding the switch would then give you a total of 12 ports.  Some of your devices may be able to connect to the router wirelessly, however, I personally would rather have a hard wired connection for speed and reliability.

I am looking to run 6 computers off my internet connection.....will this product work?

It has 8 ports - one for a connection from your router and 7 for connections from computers or other devices - so, yes. It supports wired devices only. It is not a wireless access point.

Does this switch provide PoE?

The overview of Newegg seems to hint that this switch supports PoE, but looking around, I am 99% sure it does not provide PoE (I think those switches are usually a bit more expensive as well)

I am planning on taking this abroad, does this support 110v-240v?

It states on the side if the box the following:

12VDC, 1.0A, 12 W; plug is localized to country of sale.

I also looked at the cord and I have to say no, that if you purchase here in the US you would have to get a different power cord/adapter that will support 240VAC to 12VDC output.

Switches don't care what devices are connected to them.  They only pass Ethernet through.

So yes, it will work for your Mac, TV, Gaming console, and PC all at the same time.

I don't understand how this works. I don't see an "input" where one would connect a network router?

You can input the network cable to any of the open ports. It will detect it and then you have 7 other slots for outputting to other devices.
