It just works!
Pros: It's very quiet, yet it noticeably drops my temps a few degrees on my laptop. I had to go this route because I overclocked my GPU and didn't want to risk frying my board. Now even though it's overclocked, the temps stay to about what it would run at before the overclock, so this cooler is definately doing it's job!
Cons: None really. Maybe work on making the USB hub a little sturdier?
Overall Review: I don't really use the USB hub, but it is a nice addition to have. The build quality on the hub is decent, but not the greatest, though I've never had any issues with it when I do use it.
Very well built, especially for the price!
Pros: This is the second one I've purchased and I'm very satisfied with the build quality of this enclosure. It's all aluminum, except for the end caps which are plastic, though a decent quality plastic.
Cons: None really. It just works, simple as that.
Overall Review: The other enclosure I purchased almost a year ago was a tad bit slimmer than the one I just ordered a week ago, though the build quality is just as good on both of them. I think they make them a little bigger now to accomodate larger capacity hard drives.
Worth every penny!
Pros: Great value and solid performance! I ran a few benchmarks and the speed rating is as advertised, if not a tad bit faster than advertised. Once you go SSD you'll never go HDD!
Cons: Not really a con, but I was a little surprized that it came in a blister pack, though not really a big deal. Also, it's just the bare drive, it doesn't include any mounting brackets or screws, so you'll need to provide your own if your rig doesn't already have them.
Overall Review: I can't stress enough how important it is to update your AHCI drivers from Intel. This is my second SSD (my other laptop has a Kingston HyperX) and they both greatly benefitted from updating the AHCI drivers. The Intel Driver Update Utility won't check your AHCI drivers, so you'll have to manually search their site for it. You'll immediately notice a nice little speed boost after updating your drivers.
Extremely well built!
Pros: -Very sturdy all aluminum design -USB 3.0 speeds -Very attractive design, I get a lot of compliments on it and people keep asking where I bought it.
Cons: -None really, but the included mesh bag is a bit ugly, but functional, lol.
Overall Review: I'm currently using an SSD on my laptop and am running my "old" Hybrid Hard Drive through this enclosure as my storage drive and I couldn't be happier! The build quality is as good as, if not better than, most external hard drives you buy. I'm very satisfied with this product!
Pretty fast hard drive
Pros: It's significantly faster than most 5400 and 7200 RPM hard drives. Where my computer would take several minutes to boot up, this one will boot up in about 30 seconds or so. Also, programs you use frequently tend to load a little faster each time as the files are cached on the flash memory.
Cons: Not SSD fast (no surprise there) A little noisier than standard hard drives cause of all the spinning up and slowing down of the platters, but nothing too bad.
Overall Review: I've since upgraded to a Kingston HyperX SSD drive and am using this one as a USB 3.0 drive to store my music and stuff, and this has been working out for me very well. I do highly recommend you update your firmware to SD28 ASAP to help with the platter spin up and slow down issues. While it's not a true rival to SSD, it compliments it very well as a supplemental drive to store your data and not sacrafice a lot of performance at the same time.
Well worth the investment!
Pros: -Extremely fast! -Better battery life -Less noise, less heat, less load time -Very well built, uses Intel based NAND rated at 5k PE cycles, and is the only SSD to my knowledge that even has thermal padding inside the all aluminum housing!
Cons: -Small storage capacity (you can never have too much space, but it's still reasonable from an SSD standpoint)
Overall Review: I upgraded from a 500 GB Momentus XT hybrid drive, which is a pretty fast hard drive, but doesn't touch this at all in terms of performance, noise, or battery life! That Hybrid drive is now happily running through a USB 3.0 enclosure as my storage drive.
