Hubba Hubba, AWESOME HUB!
Pros: Hi, I've had one of these hubs for more than a year now and love it! Very dependable, and the two top loading USB slots are great and very convenient for USB flash drives. Now, these fine hubs are getting a bit hard to find... except here at wonderful newegg.com! I bought two extra... at a price each of less than half what I paid for the first one at a leading office supply store (now they just sell their own brand of hubs; Grrrrrrrr). This product is slim, stylish, has great looks, even fits in a laptop case, and of course is is Belkin quality.
Cons: Nothing not to be happy with here!
Overall Review: The box with these two hubs in it came exceedingly crushed by some neanderthals at UPS... but again... Newegg and its superior packing saved the day as the box was stuff full of protective peanut packing. Thanks so much Newegg, you rule!!
Not bad for what's left...
Comments: Okay, so you want a monitor to replace that PF-775 Viewsonic from a couple of years back... Well, this is probably as good as your are going to do. Unfortuantely, it is NOT up to the quality that was present in your PF775. Not much bets and aperture grill, and this puppy does not have one. So, you will be putting up with a tad of the squiggles on light backgrounds and overglow when you have stark white meeting black black. Yeah, not perfect and annoying too. But, the days of awesome CRTs from Viewsonic seem to be at a close... and this is now as good as it gets. The problem for me going to LCD is that their native mode limits sharpness... when say working in an old paint program at 320 x 200 (don't laugh... great for webart, buttons, etc.). Anyways, if you want true multi-video mode compatibility... a CRT is still superior over flat panel tech. As such, you can try to find an old PF775, or snag this puppy. I have had this thing for half a year now... I would trade it in an instant for a new PF775 with an Aperture Grill (lines and all...) Still, times are a chang'in and you can't fight City Hall!
Cool Handy Gadget, Works Great!
Pros: Works super, very sensitive as a hotspot detector (picks some signals up more than 200' away), provides a wealth of info regarding wifi access points around you (great for Warwalking). Very portable and unobtrusive to use. Nice size - just a little bigger than a stick of gum. Aquires a survey of hotspots quite quickly (about 5 to 10 seconds). Displays type of security used on A/Ps found (WEP/WPA/unlocked), SSID, signal strength, pages thru for multiple broadcasters. Also works super as a USB wifi adapter with a none network equipped older laptop running XP. Software for use as a WiFi Adapter installed easily and works flawlessly. The unite is well made and the cap for USB connection stays on securely.
Cons: There was quite a few negative reviews on this product, so I was a little hesitant to purchase it... but at the price listed, I figured it was worth a gamble... So glad I did! The only negative I can honestly state is that the unit could use a backlighting feature for the display when viewed at night. Also note that Trendnet has produced 4 versions of this item (see software downloads for this item at Trendnet site for more info). I received the C1 variant. Manual for the product seems a bit outdata and info. regarding driver installation had changed (just follow the on screen prompts and you will be fine).
Overall Review: Hey, I have had a lot of fun with this little bugger casually "warwalking" my neighborhood. It is amazing how many access points there are in operation, and how many are unsecured... Also great when traveling, the signal strengh mode is useful for mapping the power area of a selected AP. This is my first Trendnet product, I am happily impressed! Overall, this nifty multi-purpose device is a blast! Thanks Trendnet and Newegg!
Excellent Safe Case for the Money...
Pros: This is a very nice case for the money. It is finely constructed of durable material and well padded. The sewing to top notch and very nicely done. The case has a special adjustable main pocket for your laptop which lets you essentially fine tune exactly how tight you would like your system to fit in the pocket - very effect, secure, and should work well for any laptop computer with a 15.4 inch diagonal screen size. This is not a very bulky case, but there is room to fit some slim peripherals (like a 2nd drive). There is room on the sides of the main pocket for your laptop to sneak in the power block (if not to big) and a cord. Outer front pockets are good for your laptop's basic documentation and recovery disks. Finally, it has an excellent padded handle which is very comfortable to carry. It comes with a nice shoulder strap which is adjustable.
Cons: The material and inner foam that this product is made out of seems very new and totally synthetic. The case has a potent chemical smell when you first take it out of the bag. It will take a good week (maybe more) of leaving it open with a fan blowing on it, before most of this outgassing from the materials is down to acceptable levels for most folks. May not bother those who are not sensitive to odors. Also note that this type of case does not fully open 180 degrees in regards to the laptop compartment (opens about 70 deg. with zippers all the way down); as it is designed for vertical entry and retrieval.
Overall Review: I thought initially that I might not like the color of the interior of this case (looked light blue to me), but it is a nice gray color which matches well with many laptops. Definately a pretty darn nice case for under $30! Newegg.com got it to me in 2 days... Thanks Newegg!
Wonderful Card for older Systems!
Pros: This product is a real winner in my book for older systems. I just installed it in an old DELL-GX1 P3-550(circa '99) w/ Win98SE o/s (to replace the onboard video). It is GREAT Diamond is still supplying drivers for Win98 systems. Thanks Diamond! Installation of the driver is no problem and no big drain on system resources. Also, the card uses a passive cooling heat sink - nice design with no noisey cheapo fan to annoy (like other makers). The performance appears rock solid, switches video modes easily and works fine with hardware driven OSes like MS-DOS 6.22, PC-DOS 7, etc. And, as I have also purchased the comparable JATON VIDEO-118PCI-32DDR GeForce2 MX400 32MB, I would say, this card's performance is quite superior and a bit more stable in switching modes. I like it so much I am pulling the Jatron and buying another one to replace!! Need more, check out that price. It's awesome, but wait - there's still more... NewEgg's service is terrific, they got it to me in two days. Great!
Cons: I should have bought two first time around!!! <grin>
Overall Review: I would not have known about this great product if it was not for NewEgg.com and their excellent website and business model. Also, having access to the customer reviews which are KEY to the community and the sharing environment. Additionally, NewEgg.com really listens to their customers and treats us with respect. As a tech of many years in the biz, I appreciate that so much. Also, as previously mentioned, NewEgg's fast dependable shipping, awesome customer service, and vast bevy of exceptional products make it just the best place to shop for computer related items on the web. Thanks NewEgg!
Terrific Card - 98SE Compatible
Pros: Excellent compatibility with older systems, Win98, etc. Great little card at amazingly inexpensive (cheap) price! I was not even familiar with Jaton before getting this product. Wow, great quality!!! Easy install on the driver. Thanks NewEgg!!
Cons: None really... The card does have a fan on it, which is pretty quiet, but can be a both to some people. May be a tad more noisy if mounted on a riser board (coming out of the mobo - see DELL Optiplex series). Moving the board or reseating the riser may quiet down any vibe or harmonics. Also, even though the card has one output, it will register as two monitors. This is normal for the design of this card - but a little confusing (can also be plugged to a TV out). See: http://db.jaton.com/VGAProductDetail.aspx?P_ID=82118KDP32MBA0
Overall Review: This card is a replacement for a bigger (not better) eVGA MX 4000 PCI MX 4000 card. That card could not switch properly in and out of DOS / Windows98 apps without major video issues (especially exiting DOS). This JATON jewel has excellent support for older designed MoBo / bios setups which have yielded excellent results. Also, I prefer the Nvidia chipset (since I had even more trouble with an ATI replacement for the same issue). Utilized in a DELL OptiPlex GX110 P3-866. - This card solved my problems!!! NEW EGG TO THE RESCUE (again).
