Beyond all expectations.
Pros: For 99% of all headsets, the analysis is centered around the quality of sound. With the eDimensional Audio FX, it's the quality of EXPERIENCE. These headsets provide an experience, not just sound. The sound, since I brought it up, is incredible. There is truth depth to what you hear. But getting back to the experience, this headset brings life to any game. Explosions are not only heard, they are felt. It's amazing.
Cons: My ears began to hurt after an hour of gaming as a result of the headphones, but I'm sure they will break in over time.
Overall Review: If you're looking for a gaming headset, do yourself a huge favor and order these. You will not be disappointed.
Now I have two...
Pros: My initial review for this card has already been posted here, but I wanted to update with the fact that I have two of these puppies running in SLI. The heat produced by these cards are negated by the addition of a second fan with the purpose of pulling air OUT from the PCI-E slots on my mobo. The performance of two of these cards is tremendous.
Cons: They aren't a member of the 8xxx family, but with no DirectX10 games available at this point, what does it matter?
Overall Review: Thank you Newegg.com - I ordered my first 7950GT OC in October from you and everything worked great. And my mom followed up and ordered the second one from you folks for my Christmas gift.
Like an emerald.
Pros: The picture is tremendous with this monitor. I don't think I can stress it enough... this is a great monitor for gaming. And the price... can't be beat.
Cons: Speakers - Not so great, but I have a $xxx Logitech system, so I don't mind. No USB support - I wish it came with USB ports like my old DELL LCD, but that's okay.
Overall Review: Best bang for the buck as far as I'm concerned. Battlefield 2 looks great.
Make Love, Not War
Pros: Cooler Master continues to display their ability to make a user friendly, aesthetically pleasing, cool case. The S830 has enough space for even the clumsiest builder to work in. It is a sturdy chasis to say the least and it has to be given the amount of weight it has to sustain. Cooling - the space allows for all kinds of cooling options. The only side of the case that doesn't have ventilation is the bottom. It's nice.
Cons: Plastic locks - I don't think the plastic locks are forgiving enough for what a builder may put a case through. I broke one quite easily. It's not a deal break though. Sharp edges - My case had a sharp rail on the inside of the case and I cut my saluting finger.
Overall Review: The price may be a little steep, but honestly, you get what you pay for when it comes to PC hardware. Don't let the price scare you away. NewEgg.com does it again.
The Airborne and Company of Heroes - Pioneers in their own field.
Pros: Relic really hit it out of the park with Company of Heroes. They gameplay is dynamic and impressive as you progress through the single player campaign. It is the first WWII RTS I have played where the player can effective use squad level tactics. It is a tactician's dream. The game is very powerful, aesthetically speaking. Explosions and tracer fire look amazing and really add to the atmosphere. Sound... the best of ANY RTS game.
Cons: Like any single player game, the AI just seems to fall short. AI doesn't evade grenades or satchel charges like they should. Faces of War, a similar WWII RTS seems to have a more complete AI package. But, this is a very minor gripe. Company of Heroes out shines all other rivals.
Overall Review: This is a must buy for any WWII RTS fan. I will readily acknowledge that the WWII theme is a tired one in gaming, but CoH is a gem in spite of it all.
She's quick. She's deadly.
Pros: The Raptor series is nothing short of impressive. I would have never believed the speed at which a WindowsXP installation is achieved with this HD unless I saw it for myself. I saw it. I believe it.
Cons: Price - No one wants to spend this amount of money for something as basic as a HD. Howvever, the following cliche' rings true when it comes to PC hardware - "You get what you pay for." Noise - You can hear it working in there, but the downside of these drives are shallow at best.
Overall Review: If you have the scratch, you have to buy at least one of these. I purchased two - one as a OS/system drive (prepping for Vista) and another for gaming and applications.
