RAM too fast? *amend

GIGABYTE GA-MA78G-DS3H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA78G-DS3H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: video, audio, speed, OC capabilities

Cons: temperatures are not "ice cold"

Overall Review: I am embarrassed to admit, but I think it's necessary to mention this: After weeks of anger and frustration, I seem to have adjusted the right BIOS setting to get the mobo to reboot and come out of standby properly. There is a setting in DRAM setup of BIOS that solved the reboot/ warm boot issue I wrote about in previous review. The setting is "MEMCLOCK Tri-State" -> enabled. With it enabled (disabled by default), I have been smoothly computing with this great motherboard. Others suggested relaxing RAM timings or using slower RAM than the Crucial Ballistix. That did not work for me, but the BIOS setting fixed it. (see previous review)

not their best work.

Cuisinart SPB-7CHFR Chrome 40 oz. Jar Size SmartPower Electronic Blender 7 speeds
Cuisinart SPB-7CHFR Chrome 40 oz. Jar Size SmartPower Electronic Blender 7 speeds

Pros: looks good.

Cons: lid parts do not seal. motor is loud and takes a bit to get up to selected speed. The serial number is scratched off therefore making any warranty service or parts from the manufacturer void and unavailable. Additionally, the warranty on refurbished is only 90 days. That's not so good either.

Overall Review: took a chance on this because I had a cheap cuisinart blender 5 years ago that was terrific. It cost me $20, and had 3 buttons with dial for speed. everything sealed great, and it wasn't too loud, though had plenty of power. This refurb thing costs twice as much and stinks. Even though it's a respected (*ahem*) brand there is no reason to buy it if the serial is scratched off and you can't get the company to warranty it.

good for my needs

ASRock A320M-ITX AM4 AMD Promontory A320 USB 3.1 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard

Pros: 2 hdmi out small compact efficient asrock rocks

Cons: the screw for the m2 is not actually long enough to screw in if you have an m2 ssd installed. I was able to find a screw that worked from the chassis of an old hard drive. I wrote Asrock and they sent me a replacement screw that also WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH. i do not understand the bios, and the manual is pretty useless unless you understand bios. obviously translated and written only for people who swim in that pool so to speak.

Overall Review: I have used Asrock for the last 10+ years becuase of bad experiences with other mfg's that channeled me to Asrock and Foxconn. I haven't bought a Foxconn board in 10 years just because Asrock makes what I want for a price I like. It's a great little board for my needs, which are meager. I really picked this just for the 2 HDMI outputs (surprising how few mobo's have that).

solid

Pros: good pricing; heatsink ram with accurate timings, according to memtest will add 8gb more of it if deemed advantageous. So far, it's plenty for typical PC use sharing with apu: 5.93gb sys mem and the rest used by apu.

ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4-M FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: turn it on and go. Easy install; worked with everything I plugged into it no problems. windows7 and all good layout. I like ASRock's BIOS fine, and It allows to boot from multiple devices and OS's. overclock is easy if you want to do that.

Cons: none yet, but we are not asking a whole lot from it...

Overall Review: I built a Win7 PC for the mominlaw. I used this board and an A4-5300. It is a HUGE upgrade from the previous system- a dual core XP build. I replaced the mobo, cpu, and added an SSD. Not a cheap upgrade, but a screamin office PC that should keep up for years.

handy

Rosewill RCR-IC001 - 3.5" Internal 40-in-1 Card Reader with USB 2.0 Port & Extra Silver Face Plate

Pros: lots of holes. I really only use 2 of them. something to do with the floppy hole in the case

Cons: none so far

Overall Review: handy little doodad. It's nice to plug these cards right in to the machine.
