Wow what a difference

XFX HD-585A-ZNBC Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB Black Edition 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
XFX HD-585A-ZNBC Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB Black Edition 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card

Pros: Bought this to replace my old Nvidea 9800GTX+, and what can i say, it is like night and day in every area. This card is a full 2 inches shorter than the 9800GTX+, and it out performs it in every area, including temps and noise. I ran the 9800 at 100% fan speed all the time to keep temps around 47c at idle, and forget about gaming, with Crysis, it would shoot up to 61c or more. This card stays at 40c with the fan set at 25% idle or browsing the internet etc, and never gets over 52c on crysis at high settings with 4X AA, and fan speed set to 50%. It is a bit louder but still nowhere close to the old card. It has handled everything I have thrown at it and has not given me a single regret. I had no problems with Downloading the games bundled with it either went very smooth. (I bought it when the Egg was throwing in three other games for free).

Cons: None at all. Catalyst Control Center runs like a dream, and has got me buying a third monitor to try eyefinity.

Overall Review: I debated as to whether or not to spend the extra $50 for the 5870, and decided to go this route and will most likely end up with a 6000 series card next year. I have been an Nvidea guy for years, but as of late there is no comparing price/performance between them and ATI, ATI is hands down better and more affordable, and they just run cooler.

Cooler Master MegaFlow 200 - Sleeve Bearing 200mm Red LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases

Pros: I cannot say enough how much I love Cooler Master products. Bought this fan for the top of my HAF X, quiet and powerful, pushes alot of air. Had these same fans in my HAF 932 for 4 years and never a problem.

Cons: absolutely none

Nice board

ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Wanted a bullet proof, feature packed board and Asus delivered. I have tried several different boards by several different manufacturers over the last 25 years and I always seem to find my way back to Asus. The Bios on this board is superior and easy to navigate, oc is easy, amd boots without fail every time. Love the fact that it is built to military spec with heavy duty parts.

Cons: none
