Very nice card, really crummy rebate program.
Pros: This card is a standard ATI design nothing special added from the manufacturer. That said … ATI did a fantastic job with this card and its implementation. Definitely worth the money. Basically redefined the $200 and under market as soon as it was released.
Cons: The rebate for this thing is just plain silly, you have to go to a web site, register (giving your personal info to a wealth of unwanted emailers and junk mail sending people I would assume), enter some promo code from the rebate form, get an activation code, place the activation and promo code with the newegg.com name on the back of the envelope, and then do all the other “normal” stuff like fill out the downloaded form , get your invoice , and attach your upc code from the box. Basicly its like the company really really wants to make people just toss up their hands in frustration or miss a step so they can disqualify your rebate request easily. They mention repeatedly that they will disqualify your request if you do any of a dozen things wrong. The web site you have to go to talks about how they want to be “fair” to the companies and the end users. Their commitment is clearly to making sure they keep as much money for everyone but the consumer so make sure you read the instructions a
Overall Review: They should stop with this rebate junk and just make them instant or lower the price permanently; consumers don’t like being asked to do paperwork after they lay down their hard earned cash.
Pros: Good value, Solid performance - Running with 55 series Intel boards, Core i5's and i7's, this ram never misses a beat. If you need reliable DDR3 at 1.5v look no farther.
Overall Review: We never run our hardware out of spec so I only speak from stock settings, Kingston has yet to let me or my clients down.
Hard to beat
Pros: For what this card is and the money it costs its hard to beat in today's marketplace. The connection options are second to non and the DirectX 11 support should prove handy.
Overall Review: For a serious business user, home theater rig or light gamer I don't know of a better value today.
Better than onboard Audio
Pros: Solid Board for what it is. Drivers work well and provide good control of the device in Windows XP.
Cons: Windows Vista Support is not fully developed yet. There is no mic control in the driver among other things. It does work in Vista but needs to get a couple more revisions before i would recomend it to someone for that OS.
Overall Review: The other Cars in the X-Fi product line use different drivers and have a more mature driver for Vista, consider looking there in you need a vista sound card right now.
