Issue was not this drive

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3EG HD203WI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3EG HD203WI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Speed very good for 5400 rpm- The tranfer rate exceeds my 1.5 TB 7200 rpm Seagates by about 10%.

Cons: Not really a con, but I am writing this review as a sort of retraction. I placed two of these drives in a new "High End Rosewill" enclosures. One of them caused the W7 machine to lock up. Hmm. I opened up another brand new Rosewill enclosure and put the drive in that.. Same result.. I decided the drive was bad and rma-ed it. SInce I could not wait for NE's slow RMA procedure, I ordered a third of these drives. I received it.. Same thing... I then began to suspect the rosewill enclosures.. BTW, NE charges $50 for these enclosures, which I have used extensively in the past... I dug through my junk pile and grabbed a cheap enclosure and the 3rd drive was fine. Further examination showed that I had received 5 of these "High End" enclosures and 4 of them were defective. I am not sure what NE will do about that since they have been sitting for a few months waiting for use.. Anyway, the drive was fine and I would retract my original 3 star rating if I knew how to do that.

Overall Review: There should be a procedure to retract a mistaken feedback. On drive especially, they get a bad rap for several invalid reasons: 1) Insufficient power to the drive. (Causes sectors to get marked as bad when the real problem is low voltage.. Also causes drive to stop responding and other errors that look like a bad drive) 2) Bios or the OS does not support such a large drive. (Causes failed formats of drive to be recognised as much smaller than it actually is) 3) power or SATA cables are weak or faulty. - Various intermittent problems or even DOA ...and a new #4) - An expensive but inoperable high end rosewill enclosure.. I am pleased that NE has started doing a good job on packaging the drives. I have probably bought more than 50 drives from NE over the last years and for years they were packaged such that some were damaged in shipping. Packaging on these last 6 or 7 drives has been very good.

Bad Vendor, refuse to issue RMAs

Fantom Drives GreenDrive Pro 2TB USB 2.0 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive GDP2000EU
Fantom Drives GreenDrive Pro 2TB USB 2.0 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive GDP2000EU

Pros: Price was ok.

Cons: Reliability, Customer service. I have been trying for almost a week to get an RMA for this drive. They do not read the doc provided, but keep asking me questions previously answered, stalling, will not actually issue an RMA or return any phone calls.

Overall Review: This is the worst customer service I have ever seen for a hard drive. I have rougly 40 drive running from several vendors and have had bad drives before, but never a vendor like this that refused to back up their products.

slow

Samsung 128GB FIT USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 150MB/s (MUF-128BB/AM)

Pros: small

Cons: Slow.. Slow.. Slow.. Extended transfer rate 33 Meg/second on write

Not worth the long wait or the money.

SAMSUNG 960 PRO M.2 512GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V6P512BW
SAMSUNG 960 PRO M.2 512GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V6P512BW

Pros: Unlike Samsung Washers and Note 7, it did not blow up (yet)

Cons: After a very long wait, as Samsung announced deliver dates they did not meet, I got this drive. I replaced a Samsung sm951 (128gb). This is in a very fast i7 machine, so I expected to get close to the speeds claimed. Samsung Magician claims this drive to run about 80% of the advertised speeds. Given that performance was not that great, it is difficult to justify the premium pricing. If this drive was low $200 I would give it a better rating, but rating it at this price point, I am not pleased with it.

Overall Review: Don't believe all the hype.

Keyboard does not work, Install of the OS will not upgrade???

MSI GS Series - 17.3" NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M - Intel Core i7-6700HQ - 16GB Memory - 128 GB SSD - Windows 10 Home 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop - (GS72 Stealth-042 )
MSI GS Series - 17.3" NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M - Intel Core i7-6700HQ - 16GB Memory - 128 GB SSD - Windows 10 Home 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop - (GS72 Stealth-042 )

Pros: The base hardware specifications are excellent. I ended up trashing the MSI installed Windows 10 installation. As expected, the boot SSD (PCIE x4 NVMe) is much faster than a sata SSD (3 times the read rate and better write as well).

Cons: First off, the keyboard is broken and I am told that MSI will not replace the laptop. They will repair it, but it may take up to 25 days. I spent a lot of time trying to upgrade this to Windows 10 Pro. I was getting blue screens. Do yourself a favor and upgrade all the drivers before trying to upgrade the OS, because the drivers (In particular the nvidia driver) will cause you a lot of pain. I had to restore the factory settings twice. That solved the blue screen issue, but the upgrade failed nonetheless (but maybe not an MSI issue). I ended up doing a clean install and discarding the existing OS and misc. It was a good thing anyway because they install a 30 day version of pkzip. pkzip is not needed with windows 10 for most folks and when they install it it messes up windows ability to open zipped files by itself. there were only a few bloatwares, but I will also say this laptop was CRAZYs slow until I completely threw out the factory build. After all that, I am back up and happy with WIndows 10 Enterprise edition. Now the laptop boots crazy fast and is more responsive. The thing I will say bad about the hardware is that they did not have separate buttons for the track pad for mouse clicks. It takes a precision click on the bottom of the trackpad and maybe several retries to hit the right mouse function. I wish I could swap out the trackpad for one with buttonz

Overall Review: Thoroughly verify that the laptop is completely working before turning any rebates or discarding the packing materials. Newegg will not help if these items are not available and you are at the mercy of MSI customer service . I would recommend if you are staying with windows home, or comfortable reloading the OS if you want enterprise edition. If you decide to upgrade to pro, Install ever single update to get W10 home up to current and UPDATE ALL drivers as well before trying to upgrade to W10 pro, (You would have to update anyway, this make it more likely that the upgrade will not blue screen)

After struggling with 2 other ac routers, one that works and is easy to set up.

ASUS RT-AC66W Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router
ASUS RT-AC66W Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router

Pros: I tried 2 other AC routers, First a TRiver cheap router form another site, which came with basically no documentation and took hours of trial and error to set up as an access point. After all that it could not work at all on the 5Ghz side. I then went with a more expensive (than this one) AFOUNDRY AC router, which was better, and setup in only 30 minutes (Again some trial and error since doc was scant), but connections on the 5Ghz side constantly disconnected. I then came back to this one, which I had seen but avoided. I bought it partially based on price, but I was significantly surprised at the ease of configuration. Instead of having to set maybe 6 to 12 settings to get it to work, just one setting and the router software pretty much took care of everything else. I have had maybe a dozen routers thus far and this was the best interface thus far. Ok, the benchmark. The best I got our of the other AFOUNDRY AC side was bouncing between 22 and 35 Megabytes per second transfer rate. (I could not bench the TRiver since it was inoperable). This router held a constant 52-56 Megabytes per second and had greater range, so it was significantly faster. I don't know what other routers bench, but I was satisfied with this.

Cons: Noe at this time, but I am hard to please, so I may update this later.

Seller refused to cancel order even though it was shortly after I had purchased the item. Ignored cancel, shipped anyway, wants a restocking fee to return.

I would not buy from this same seller again. Ignoring a cancel and wanting money to correct there choice.

Sold me pure junk! Do not buy from this seller

Bought a bluetooth keyboard advertised as 30' range... I am getting 3-4 foot range and have tried it on more than 1 computer, RMA is not going well so far. I would avoid this seller because they are selling defective merchandise as far as I can tell.
