HP Officejet Pro 8500 CB023A Up to 35 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB / Wi-Fi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer
HP Officejet Pro 8500 CB023A Up to 35 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB / Wi-Fi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer

Pros: Decent printer, works fast, scans, faxes, & prints nicely, especially on high quality paper.

Cons: Somewhat noisy. Don't turn it off, takes a little while to restart, will go through the self-check & print head cleaning cycle (Waste of ink) every time you turn it back on. Had a very difficult time with the wireless connection. Printer would not wake up when wireless signal from PC was sent. Thought it was the printer, but replacing my old wireless router fixed that problem. It prints now immediately and every time I need to print something from different computers around the house.

Overall Review: HP is no longer what it used to be. I had some misfortune with HP printers. It's predecessor, my 6000 croaked completely, got 3 new printers for it from HP under warranty after spending hours with customer service from a well known foreign country who appears to know very little about the tech issues (Yes, my printer is plugged in, Yes, there are ink cartridges in the printer, Yes, paper is loaded in the printer) . Finally bought this one from HP to replace the old 6000. And... it is my second 8500. The first one worked for a week it's electronics died. Here are some tips when dealing with HP. Learned the hard way. When on the phone computer tree for customer tech support, reply that you use the printer for business. Every time you say BUSINESS, you are connected state side to pretty competent technicians. If you say personal use, you end up in a foreign country, every time without fail. Got my issues (replacements) taken care off in half the time by using the business response

Most Critical Review

Slow Router

D-Link EBR-2310 Ethernet Broadband Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: Easy set up and programmable. Very stable even after 2 years of continual operation.

Cons: If multiple devices want access to the internet, for example, the router stops ALL of them to think about it. It comes back on after 30 seconds to a minute and processes the requests. But there is a notable lag time during high traffic periods from multiple devices. Tried all kinds of settings, but nothing does really alleviate this problem completely.

Overall Review: Might be great for a single user network who switches devices on occasion. Not recommended for multiple simultaneous users with heavy traffic. Definitely NOT recommended for business use.
