This should be a 5-star monitor

ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q Black 24.1" 6ms P-IPS Height/Swivel/Pivot Adjustable LCD Monitor w/2 USB hub, Card Reader & Display port 400cd/m2 50000:1 DCR
ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q Black 24.1" 6ms P-IPS Height/Swivel/Pivot Adjustable LCD Monitor w/2 USB hub, Card Reader & Display port 400cd/m2 50000:1 DCR

Pros: I bought this monitor because I had been looking for a quality screen that would not shift in brightness and colors with changing in viewing angle. I bought this monitor over the HP ZR24W and Dell U2410 because I have always had great experiences with ASUS motherboards and video cards. This monitor should easily be a 5-star monitor. There are many great things to write about it. The colors are absolutely fantastic. The viewing angles are such that one can look from above, below, and side to side and not have massive shifts in brightness and colors. Once viewing angles exceed 60 degrees there is some shift, probably due to scattering effects of the coating. I use the monitor for graphics for my employment, but also games and moves. I have it hooked up to an X-Box 360. Halo, Dead Space, Aof2, Fable I-III as well as PC Doom 3, Half Life, Neverwinter all look fantastic and with minimal ghosting. LofR, 2001, SW all look great. It was during 2001 with the dark back groun

Cons: that I noticed the the two bright green, stuck pixels at 379, 459 and 1566, 618. Unfortunate and disappointing since much "cheaper" monitors that I have bought have been perfect and remained so. I expected this $500 monitor to be perfect. Also disappointed in that my purchased is largely based on my very good experiences with ASUS products in the past. Strike two eggs for each of them.

Overall Review: Outdoor RPG games such as Fable in scenery mode are just....WOW! Movies are just....WOW! A theater mode is pre programed; however, not suitable for general use since the mode casts a blue hue to everything. Contrast ratio could be better, but that is a known limitation of IPS so I will not dock an egg for that. Blacks are quite uniform on my purchase. Contrast ratio cannot be set sRGB and Adobe RPG mode which is strange. Ergonomically probably the best monitor I have, and writing documents in Word with the screen vertical is a joy. Also, ASUS cannot not be blamed entirely for the stuck pixels since I believe the panel is made by LG Electronics. However, they do need better quality control on a product such as this. I hope that their no stuck pixel comes through.
