The Product works as it should
Pros: This is a reasonably priced (but no bargain) office styled laptop PC. The components are more than adequate for most any business use. Five eggs without my complaint below!
Cons: There is an "e-manual" in PDF format on the hard drive which definitely states that the operating system is Windows 8.1. Evidently the machine was assembled in China at least two years ago with that OS loaded. Sometime post-manufacture, that system was replaced with Windows 7. Whether this was done in China at the Asus factory or later at the third party seller Fateka" is impossible for me to tell. No matter, it was done. I wanted a laptop with Windows 7. They now are commonly either very expensive or refurbished. There is an option to "upgrade" to Windows 10. The package as sold includes DVDs for both recovering the Windows 7 system and also for installing Windows 10. This is a refreshing, rare, and considerate feature. I very much appreciate that. I have contacted Asus support about the wrong manual and requested a replacement but have received no response as yet. I only received the machine three days ago. An un-knowledgeable person reading the existing e-manual could be very confused and possibly cause serious issues.
A fine router
Pros: It just works the way it's supposed to.
Cons: None
Overall Review: A problem developed during the installation and configuration process. This in no way was the fault of the product or the instructions. My bad! I telephoned the tech support line and found excellent service and advice which cleared up the issue immediately. Good help is valuable!
Overall, it works well.
Pros: Excellent choice of components. Quite fast and powerful as long as you do not play severely demanding games. 1/2 GB of storage is ample providing you do not mess around editing movies. USB 3 port is a plus. DC input is placed well. Display is bright and clear. Ample accessory ports.
Cons: Bloatware, as usual. No supplied OS disk, as usual. Power cable from AC to transformer is unusually and inconveniently short. Well, Acer saved about $0.30 on that.
It works
Pros: Installation of card and drivers was easy. I downloaded software from Hauppauge to obtain the latest drivers.
Cons: Supplied documentation is minimal but more detailed information in PDF can be downloaded from Hauppauge. There is occasional "jittering" of the image on tv; but this is minimal.
Overall Review: The output is ported via HDMI cable to the telvision. My PC setup is Win7-64 bit with an i3 cpu and NO video card added to motherboard which is an Intel DH55TC with 4 GB installed RAM. I do not use the provided IR remote control. It is far easier to control all elements on the tv screen directly with my mouse on a long extension cable. For me The WinTV software provided was definitely more convenient than Windows Media Center, which did not successfully scan and recognize my tv channels correctly. The "Titan TV" television web site for which a link is provided is far inferior to that for TV Guide.
