Pros: I am finalizing the setup of this machine, as I write this review. Initial impressions:
-Lightweight and a plastic chassis; in my use this is a non-issue, although it may not inspire confidence for some users
-Satisfactorily fast boot times: the solid state M.2 drives are always nice, IMO
-Solid response in the keyboard and integrated mousepad/buttons, although they are also less refined than my one year-ish old HP ProBook.
This HP 255-G8 will be a general business work machine (and the occasional movie streaming, etc.). I'm a longtime AMD fanboy and the Ryzen 5s are solid, overall. AMD's Radeon integrated graphics are more than satisfactory for most all purposes (less a gaming rig, in theory), as is the 16 GB RAM.
Windows 10/11 work without issue for my purposes and needs.
Cons: The screen is not as bright as my HP ProBook, but that isn't a cause for concern in my application.
Overall Review: Overall, I think this 255-G8 is a great value and hits a lot of the component spec needs without the added costs of silver-metal chassis (and maybe a touch less of screen quality). 5 eggs for its intended uses and specs.
I'm feeling satisfied at this moment, especially for the price to performance ratio.
