Pros: Most keys work great
Great back lighting
Cons: Space bar does not work consistently (appears to be by design)
The space bar usually does not register unless it is struck near the middle. I have never had this problem with any other keyboard and it is a completely inexplicable omission in what I was sold as a "high end" keyboard. It is extremely irritating to constantly have to go back and add spaces. What idiot thought this would be a good design?
Overall Review: Would not recommend
Would not buy another daskeyboard
Pros: Most keys work
Cons: Largely unusable because every language that I know of uses spaces.
Overall Review: For shame! $130 keyboard that has to be relegated to the garbage heap. As others have pointed out, the space bar is unreliable. This is beyond unacceptable. The folks at Das Keyboard should hang their heads in shame that I set my $130 keyboard aside to use a 10 year old dell keyboard that was included with some cheap system a decade ago. Honestly, if my company produced such garage at this price point, I'd jump off a bridge. The CEO of Das Keyboard owes me and the other suckers that bought this horrible keyboard an apology.
Pros: Solid construction, feels great to type on, quality components, and best of all backlit keys!
Overall Review: This keyboard was recommended by a night-owl programming friend. The LED backlit keys are awesome, and I recommend this keyboard to anyone who spends a lot of time in front of a computer in a not-so-well lit environment. The LEDs are easy on the eyes and are adjustable. The keyboard feels solid to type on as well. Nice product.
Cons: The spacebar didn't work every time it was pressed.
Overall Review: I've been using one of the original Das Keyboards for many years, but recently decided a backiit keyboard would be better for my aging eyes. Unfortunately, the spacebar on this keyboard didn't register 100% of the time.
Pros: - Durable and tough. Simple concept and design
- Backlighting can be adjusted and even turned off, huge bonus points for an off option.
- USB port for additional devices
- Heavy duty braided cable, with 2x USB connectors at the end
- Cherry MX keys (Brown for this board)
Cons: - Not a single thing I can think of after two years of ownership, based on other people lack of how to use a keyboard apparently...I may have to purchase a few of these near perfect keyboards to have a stock of for the rest of my life.
Overall Review: I despise lights on my rig and on my keyboard and I absolutely needed a USB port on it for my mouse, just for how far away I am from my rig. This keyboard fit both of those aspects.
Then I needed an upgrade to some nice Cherry MX keys, I figured out through research what kind of feedback I wanted, and based that to browns, hence my search ultimately led me to very few keyboards out that of any worth, this was always on at the top of that list and I have to say its the absolute most perfect keyboard I could envision, I feel like this thing was designed just for me without my knowing.
I have ZERO issues with my spacebar, never have, it works the entire length and under the same pressure. I feel like these bad reviews are just bashing something this for no reason.
Pros: The back lighting is fantastic. It's not gaudy, just right for the dark area where I use it.
Cons: I got this keyboard because I use another version of a Das keyboard at work and now I'm spoiled. It comes with MX brown switches that don't feel as nice as the MX reds, but it's still very nice.
Overall Review: My ultimate keyboard would be a back lit version of the Das Keyboard 4 that was also wireless. I know it would eat batteries but I haven't found any out there like that. The closest I've seen don't have the numeric pad which is a no go for me. All in all, Das keyboards are always high quality products that make you feel like you are buying something special. I spend hours a day in front of a computer and this makes the day much more pleasurable. Highly recommended.
