Question 1

For those that have installed this, just how long of a screwdriver? What size screw? Has anyone installed on a Gigabyte Z170 LG1151?

A standard 6" appropriate bladed screw driver will work.  You don't need any screws as the cooler is very adaptable and has everything you need.  I don't have a Gigabyte board, but there was plenty of parts, adapters, and fit my Asrock Z170 1151 easily.  The only clearance problem you may have is the RAM location.  It is tight on my board, but fit OK.  If your RAM is very tall, it may not work.

Since I used this on a Intel 2011 socket, about a year ago I have no idea if it will work with the new AMD processors.  My best guess would probably be maybe not but I do not know what the backplate dimensions are on an AMD new processor.

Does it come with thermal paste? Like not pre-applied?

I just looked in the box which is really cool by the way...couldn't throw it out.  There is no paste either separate or pre-applied on the heat sink.  This is a very large heat sink, but if you can use it, it is fantastic.  The kit is very comprehensive and fits a lot of CPUs.  The mounting are very well done and hold firmly no matter which direction it is mounted.  There is even a fan adapter to power both fans from a single MB port.  Enjoy, looks awesome if you have a windowed case.

Will this work with 1151 socket MB Asrock z120 Extreme7+?

Sure! Good fan for OC(not too much), very quiet!
But, this cooler is big in regular ATX PC case, if the graghical card or memory is too big,maybe need reduce one(outside) of two fans. My video card is too big, so has to take out one fan.

will it cool an amd fx 9590 adequately???

It did a reasonable job on my Intel 5630?  I do not remember if those are the precise numbers but it is the six core, Haswell, LGA 2011 Intel processor.  For my use the idle temperatures were extremely good when I was running AutoCAD the temperature rose some but not dangerously for the processor.  I do not know AMD processors that while to know for sure.

will this work with the AMD 7 1700k  and does it come with a bracket for the CPU?

Yes and yes to both QUES's. I purchased two of these "hogs" to use on the Z10PE-D8 WS & had no problem mounting, in fact; the ASSASSIN II is the easiest cooling system I have worked with.

This popped up as "recommended" on the AMD Opteron 6344 Abu Dhabi G34 CPU, but I don't see anything on this page that it's compatible.  Will this work with that chip and SuperMicro MBD-H8SGL-O MoBo?

Based off the compatibility checker on the gamestorm page, g34 sockets are not compatible with this device.
