Does the fan blow air towards or away from the Laptop?

It blows toward the laptop which works especially well for my laptop model which pulls from the bottom and out the back. It is extremely quiet and stable. Note that my laptop is a gaming model and quite heavy so it is well planted.

Is it usb or does it us battery's or something how do you turn it on?

Runs off an usb powered port.  Can use an usb port on the computer or an usb port on a powered hub.  It automatically turns on/off with the host device selected for the usb port.

Question 3

How is it powered? If it uses the laptop, how long will the computer battery last?

I have it plugged right to the computer, with it plugged to AC.  I have an 8 yr old Gateway running Vista, set to low power when lid is closed, has a 5200 mAh battery and after I discovered AC outlet with no power, discovered a breaker had thrown approx. 7 hrs earlier, while I was at work, the fan was still lit and blowing. Very low juicer and so quiet, you'd not know it's on 'cept for the light.    Not sure how it would do on full CPU use and just battery.   You might consider a multi-outlet unit with USB to use for AC source near your device if concerned about power drain.  Check USB output is doable.  =^,,^=

Question 4

is this unit usb 2.0 or 3.0 ?

For an actual spec its probably 1. But it doesnt matter because there is no control or information transfer. Purely a power requirement.

Question 5

Is the fan replaceable should it fail, and can it be switched with a better one if I have one or is the case sealed in such a way that it would be impossible?

It looks sealed I think it would be rendered useless if you tried to replace it. But the fan is good nonetheless and very quiet and acts as a good stand as well
