Does this ship in it's own box or does Newegg put in in one of their boxes?

It ships in it's own box. The box is enormous and has tons of styrofoam to protect it, however the box is flashy and huge so you wouldn't want it on your front door for too long..

Do I use the HDMI 1.4 or Display Port 1.2 to achieve the 120hz overclock refresh rate?

It is HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4. You need display port cable to get 120 hz. But keep in mind that default is 100hz and u need to over lock to get 120hz

Why  is this monitor so expensive when its not even 4K, aspect ratio is sub par, 4ms, no G sync? does the slight curve really make it that much more expensive? My AOC slays this for almost half the price...

i bought this monitor for 999. (Newegg Promo code) Considering it uses a native 100 Hz IPS panel overclockable to 120Hz it pretty much out classes both Acer pred and asus Swift panels that use native 60Hz panels that OC to 100hz. All IPS panels are 4ms gtg so not sure where you are going with that. Also it does have G-Sync. You are not getting anything above 60Hz on 4K. So assuming you have a 4K 60 Hz panel with 1ms gtg all you really have is a highpixel density TN panel which scales like crap in the windows environment. The AOC competitor to this monitor(uses 60Hz panel) also sells for about 900ish dollars AG352UCG. So in my case shelling out an extra 100 bucks for great build quality was definately worth. Most WQHD panels hover around that price point.

No, it does not have speakers.  But, it does have a standard 3.5 mm head phone jack that you can use.

Is it virtual reality ready? Can it run Oculus-Rift?

Like Vahe I said, "Virtual Reality does not have any monitor requirements. Make sure your PC meets the requirements for VR.". I've owned the Oculus Rift and now I just picked up the Rift S.
Displaying what you are seeing in your headset to others on a monitor or TV is mirroring the play to a secondary device. It really doesn't tax your computer much no matter what you are displaying the secondary viewing to. You are obviously going to get better performance in your VR headset depending on the video card you have it plugged into. I've set it up with the AW3418DW and I've also used an LG 55" OLED 4k TV for the secondary viewing. The TV, in my opinion gives others in the room a better viewing experience and my living room has more room for the operation of VR.

Do you think a GTX 1070 SC with a i7 6700K CPU could run this monitors 3440 x 1440 resolution?
Looking to upgrade my GPU in the future but might be a bit. Possibly SLI maybe?

I think a 1070 would run it, you might need to turn things down a bit, but I think the Gsync would help and it would be fine.

In your opinion how good is the contrast in this monitor? Can you play dark games/movies without them looking terrible as in the case of my Dell S2716DGR which has a TN panel? What about picture quality? is it as good as a 60hz IPS panel? Thanks

This monitor definitely has better looking blacks than the 27" TN panel.

Without playing around online to find workarounds man of your movies will have black bars along the sides, but for games, blacks look pretty good, not OLED quality, but if you want OLED blacks, buy an OLED panel.

Does this monitor have one of those plastic screen protectors on it? I can see a little bit of an edge like there is one, but I don't want to go prying at it if that's not what it is.

will this moniter support high refresh rate for amd radeon Vii or only nvidia cards?

the monitor still supports the full 100/120HZ refresh rate on any card, but you will need NVIDIA to take advantage of GSYNC

How bad is the delay? I hear people really like IPS, but I can't get over that 4ms and 5ms delay. I am very much used to 1ms and 2ms delays. They are TN panels.

It is absurd to suggest that a difference of 3ms is noticeable to anyone but the most genetically gifted people in the world. The response time listed is also GtG which means that the monitor takes 4ms to turn from a random gray color arbitrarily chosen by the manufacturer to another gray color which they use to make the response time look faster. If the display was tested from going black to white the response time would be much slower showing it to be actually 15ms or whatever. Don't trust response times listed as being GtG. The difference between a TN and IPS only really matters if you care about color accuracy and viewing angles, if you do then go with an IPS.
