Have a Dell XPS 8500 Windows 7  64 bit  i7; will it be compatible with this?

You're going to need to look at your video connections. This Monitor has the D-Sub connection (this is the older style blue plug sometimes referred to as analog or RGB) and Displayport (This is not HDMI, Google it to see what the connector looks like). If your PC has either of these connections as output it will work. If you have HDMI and DVI only, you may get it to work by purchasing an adapter.

Can this be rotated into a tall-screen configuration or is the stand easily removable so it can be mounted to a rotating stand?

The stand is not very adjustable, only tilt up and down but it is very easy to remove and has screw holes for mounting it.

Question 4

Does this come with DisplayPort or VGA cables in the box?

I just got this delivered. There is only a VGA cable in the box. I will need to now order a separate DisplayPort cable.

Does it have built-in speakers or an audio out?

This monitor only has power in and video in. There are no speakers or audio out in this model.
