I see the communication specs include wifi and bluetooth, but does it include a NIC for wired connections?

Yes it does have a wired connection. I believe it is a 10/100/1000, but cannot remember off the top of my head.

Does this system come with an operating system disc and can I reset it to a 32 bit operating system?

It comes with a disk marked Windows 8,  I havent used it since I like to use Windows 7 that came pre-installed.

It will burn DVDs. Will not play Blu-ray discs.

2 questions:

1) the description lists that 'standard wifi' is included. what does 'standard' mean? and in looking at the product photos i see nothing on the back of the unit that would accept an antennae. is this unit wifi capable out of the box?

2)is this unit/video card capable of supporting dual monitors out of the box? i only see 1 VGA port on the rear and no DVI, can the VGA use a splitter to accommodate 2 monitors?

1) It has an embedded wireless N receiver.  It also has an embedded Bluetooth receiver.  The wifi receiver is ok, but not great at longer distances or different floors.  Might want to buy a card with external antenna if you want better performance

2) There is a HDMI and a VGA output.  I have two 23" 1080p monitors connected, one connected via VGA and the other via HDMI, running at full HD (1080p) perfectly.

Professional allows you to connect the computer to a domain such as in an office network environment where you want to connect to servers such as an active directory server, email server, etc.

This unit has 4x USB 2.0 in the rear, and 2x USB 2.0 in the front. It also has 2x USB 3.0 in the rear (back of case). The two blue USB ports in the back are USB 3.0.
