does this computer have a drive for dvds?

Yes, on the right hand side of the unit is a CD/DVD player. Original software set up of region code is not USA/Canada and must be changed. The system allows you to change the region code up to 5 times. You lose 1 time just in setup because the part must not have been manufactured or programmed for original sale in the USA/Canada region. Not that I change my region code, but if I want to watch a movie purchased from another part of the world, I would need to change the region code...according the the instructions...to watch movies not manufactured for sale in the USA/Canada.

So, Windows 8 in this computer will not support Microsoft Office? Is that my understanding?

I think thats incorrect. It comes with the usual office home and student trial but I've seen a couple of these and I've also seen them working with MS Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, Office 2013 etc. It is fully compatible with different Microsoft Office Suites. I recommend installing later versions of those suites because of Windows 8/8.1 integration.

It does have a Bluetooth connection.  I do not use that connection, though, so I can not offer an opinion on how well it works.

Can you opt for windows 7?

Unfortunately not. You get to deal with Windows 8 as there is not a license for Windows 7. You can still find Windows 7 laptops but you usually have to pay more for "Professional" series.

In the case of dealing with Windows 8 I highly recommend downloading freeware called "Start Menu 8". It can be found on download (dot) com as a free download. It is a simple utility that puts the start menu back into Windows 8 and bypasses the 'Metro' interface. I find it to be not quite 100% perfect, but still really useful and makes Windows 8 a lot more easy to work with.

The factory installed RAM was 4 GB.   Runs everything very well.

Yes. 
I actually bought this computer for a family-member who lives outside US  (so i tested the machine with 110 but its final location is v220...)
Please note that of course the adapter fits US outlets , so you may need to buy an outlet-adapter  (US->EU , ...)

How is the video quality? Would you use this for wathcing movies?

Not tried yet. But Windows 8 is not friendly for a person with many years experience of windows family OS.
