what does windows 7 professions with windows 8.1 pro license mean?  Does it mean it is installed with windows 7 professional or is it installed with windows 8.1?  I am confused by this.

It means that the computer is loaded with Windows 7 Professional obtained as a downgrade from Windows 8.1.  This is the only legal way a large manufacture, like Dell or HP, can offer an outdated operating system like windows because of their agreement with Microsoft.  You will receive Windows 8.1 media with the computer, but no Windows 7 media.

what is the connection on the back of the tower above the vga?

The connection port you are seeing is a Dell Display Port. It’s basically a HDMI port with the end reshape so it becomes proprietary to dell.  I think dell may have sold the rights to other manufactures to use the port on other devices but it has the same exact specifications as HDMI you can even get a DP to HDMI cables and audio and video will stream across. And you can do dual monitors if that’s what you wondering about one on the blue analog and one on the digital DP port.

Can you run two monitors off this computer and do I need anything else to make that work?

Yes, two monitors are supported straight off the board without an additional vid card, but the onbard graphics won't give you great performance. Enough for and basic tasks or playing full-screen video but not gaming. 
Board is pretty basic. Not a lot of room for expansion.

brings 8 USB ports two in the front, the rest are in the back. You can google this model and find pictures of the back and front. Two of the back ones are blue (USB 3.0). no camera, no card reader.  it does support two monitors but you need to purchase a Displayport to VGA adapter or Displayport to DVI to support the second monitor.  the port is on the back.

Can you use additional output speakers with this model?

It has the green jack on the back.  I have not tried connecting any speakers, but I would guess it would work.

I would say it absolutaly could be used for a home computer.  It is a workhorse.  I have bought about 15-20 of these for the company and it has plenty of power for a home computer.  I will say however if you are looking for something for gaming you may want to look at their other options.

Operating system - Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit with upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro License. Has a Trial Office 2013 installed. Nitro PDF to view Adobe pdf file. I don't care for this one so I uninstall it and DL the Adobe Reader. Plus your basic WIN7 software.
