does it come with a windows 7 disc?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It's a special reinstall disc for refurbished pc's that were upgraded to Windows 7. Not sure if it would work as a general-purpose install disc.

Question 2

What's the RAM configuration in this computer. Is it 2 X 1GB or 1 X 2GB with a free slot?

Accepted Answer

It has four memory slots.  Most of the systems I've bought (15 or so) have 2gb total in two 1gb sticks.  However, one system I received had all four slots populated with 512mb sticks.

Question 3

Why did Joy Systems stop including the actual holographic copy of the Windows 7 DVD on their refurbished machines?  The first 10 systems I bought each had a copy in the shipping box.  The last 10 don't.  I thought Microsoft REQUIRED refurbished computers to have a disk included.  This is not a trivial issue, since a hard drive failure will require the disk in order to reinstall Windows 7 on a new hard drive.

I expect it was a cost saving measure.  Since the hard drives aren't expected to fail with any great regularity, its easier to partition the drive, install a copy of the OS and presume there's not going to be a problem.  Since many people are able to download a copy of Windows from the Microsoft site, its not so much of a problem as it might be considered.

Question 4

Can anyone recommend a monitor to go along with this computer?  I have a DVI monitor, but even with an adaptor they don't seem to be compatible (are there multiple kinds of DVI -> VGA adaptors?).

I don't believe there are multiple types of DVI - VGA adapters in the way your describing. If you have a DVI and a VGA you want to connect any adapter that states this will work.

I can't recommend an adapter-- but what I can tell you is that this computer is really slow. If I had to again I would spend a little more for something faster. I bought this for my wife and because it's slow she uses my computer anyway!

Can I get an adapter to make this computer have a wireless connection for let's say a printer?

Well, to answer your question, you could get a usb wireless adapter that would make this pc wireless capable. This would allow you to install your printer to your machine wirelessly assuming you already have the printer connected to your network. There are plenty of usb ports on this machine

Can I add two monitors to this pc?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but you have to add a graphics card to do it.  I simply took the PNY NVIDIA graphics card I had installed for the same purpose from my old Dell and it worked fine in this PC.

Will the video card in this computer support dual montors if we use a splitter cable?

Accepted Answer

The software can handle dual monitors, so I don't see a problem using a splitter cable to connect them to the tower.  There is no 'video card' in the tower, the monitor port is built into the motherboard.   Btw, the port is analog, not digital.
