Yes. You can find the setup guide for the T5500 on the support page at the dell website. The setup guide shows how to change HDDs and where the second  drive can be installed.

what does the "x2" in the spec " XEON E5520 (2.26GHz) x2" mean?

How many cpu is in this computer? One XEON E5520 or two XEON E5520? Thanks

The x2 should signify that the unit is equipped with two physical Xeon processors.  I ordered my T5500 from Newegg a few months ago with the same 'x2' designation and it came equipped with two Xeon processors.  The second CPU is mounted on a riser card attached to the motherboard.

Is this ECC memory or not? The Dell site says yes for the T5500, but it also refers to a maximum 72GB of DDR3, while the Newegg specs say max of 16GB, so I'm not sure it's the same system.

This uses registered ECC memory.  240pin PC3-10600 1333MHz DDR3 RDIMM.  The 16gb probably max per memory stick x number of slots.  Since this is a workstation it will like similar memory sticks in certain slots. Dell has preferred memory tables to explain the preferred memory configurations.  Need to understand memory rank (2R4 etc) for these types of systems also.
