Does this monitor have a built-in microphone?

I believe it has a jack for one, but nothing built-in.  I haven't used mine other than as a basic monitor.  No multi-media usage.

Is the finish of the screen matte or glossy?

The finish is matte.

I have been pleased with this purchase, though there are two small annoyances: (1) There are no USB ports on the side of the screen as is common on other Dell monitors; (2) I have not been able to find a zoom control for the web cam (there are good controls for lighting and contrast).

Could this monitor be turned to portrait mode?

The stand included does not rotate landscape-portrait.  You would need to use a different stand.

Does this have USB ports?

Unfortunately I have not opened the box. The monitor was purchased for a PC that is also in the box. You can get the full specifications on the Dell website. My concern is the digital video input . An adapter may be needed.

Can I view Movies directly from a usb Flash drive?

There are no USB inputs on this monitor. So, essentially you still could, if you connected to a computer for use.
