Pros: I have done alot of IT purchasing in the last 6 months for my company and these guys just do the job. Out of about 40 i have had one motherboard go bad and dell shipped out a replacment overnight and i got it back up and running in no time. I do not believe this is a reflection of bad quality on Dell's part since it's well within the failure rate of what i would expect out of a large order.
Cons: Only 2GB Ram versus 4. It's completely suffice for my office users now so this will be an upgrade a few years down the road. Had it had 4Gb from the start i would consider them obsolete in 6 years with no upgrades needed.
Overall Review: Getting them here is alot easier than going through Dell's sales reps. Cheap price and no questions ask is what i like.
Pros: Very good price, nice processor, and I like that it comes with a Windows 7 recovery disk (it seems like a lot of manufacturers leave these out now). I bought 10 of these and implemented them into an office environment. Everyone was using Pentium 4s and these are lightning fast compared to those. I have heard no complaints.
Cons: 2GB of ram is pretty weak, but is easily upgradeable. All ten that I bought are now running at least 4GB.
Overall Review: I would buy this product again without hesitation.
Pros: It works ok in between crashes, if that's a positive.
Cons: Crashes constantly, and I've not installed anything. I just use it for internet at the office.
Pros: Windows 7 instead of Windows 8
i3 instead of Gxxx-series unusual at this (sale) price point
Compact system with simple interface
Cons: 2 GB RAM and 250 GB hard drive
Overall Review: Needed a basic system to update a 2004 Dell, and didn't want to build it. This fit the bill fine.
The OS and hardware seem to be fine, and the Win7 transfer tool worked well to transfer user files and settings.
Added a 500 GB secondary drive, and 4 GB RAM.
With the 24" Zalman monitor on sale, it's a nice upgrade.
Pros: I find the overall computer very nice. It is clean, quiet, efficient, easy to set up. If you know what you are doing you can upgrade the ram and other aspects if you feel it doesnt go fast enough.
Cons: Comes with 2GB of ram. Easily replaced with $35 of ram which makes this thing run like crazy.
Overall Review: The shipping was weird.
Pros: This system is fast, quiet and a great bargain for the price. I don't play a lot of high demanding games, but for the ones I do play (Civilization V), the graphics are quite good.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: For the price, this deal can't be beat. It's nice to know that Dell still makes a great desktop.
Pros: Great PC for office environment. Windows 7 Pro (which we need) Quiet! I can't even hear it.
Cons: Only 2 GB Ram, only 2 ram slots (8 GB is cheap though about $40)
Overall Review: 250GB hard drive is a 7200 rpm version, more would of been nice but the price justifies the reduced storage.
No gaming tried on it.
Pros: Extremely low priced desktop (under $400) that offers 2nd Gen Intel Core i3 cpu which is more than basic performance for small business needs, (email, internet, MS Office). This is an ideal purchase for startup businesses.
Very light weight, easy to move around and had a sleek design. (I paired these with the Acer Thin 20" LED monitors, N82E16824009256)
Opening the box i was amazed to find a fully functional Windows 7 Pro x64 w/Sp1 install disc!!! (OEM's charge an extra $25 for this). As expected, you can create recovery dvd discs that will allow you to restore the pc to the day you bought it
Here is some details on the specs;
Ram = 1 x 2gb stick (DDr3-1333/PC3-10600)
1 x PCIe x 16 (unsure of gen)
3 x PCIe x 1 (again unsure of gen)
4 x SataII ports (2 ports are being used by Hard drive & Rom drive.)
An available USB 2.0 header on board (could be used for a media card reader or internal backup system like an RDX drive)
Cons: The included warranty is only 1 year(expected at listed price) and for most businesses, specially without IT staff, could be concern on this investment. Contacted Dell before purchasing this item & inquired about upgrading the warranty. I was quoted (i have the conversation record as it was a chat log) a price of $70 for an extra 2 years. Once i had these desktops in hand, the price went up to about $220 per desktop! (Half the cost of the desktop!)
Dell acknowledged that i was miss-informed but took no responsibility, wouldn't even give me a discount. So i ended up using a 3rd party company that at least covered the parts
Because this Vostro is geared towards business, i am subtracting 2 eggs for terrible business support
Overall Review: If you’re a small business and you know how to work on computers or have a trusted friend, these cheaply priced dells are something you should consider. If you’re a warranty buff and prefer the Dell branded warranty (as it included tech support), compare buying this from dell direct. You could be either saving a few bucks OR getting more for the same. (if i added dell's $220 price tag to this pc, i could have got the Slim Vostro for the same price which included a media card reader)
*IF you do get this desktop, the included 1 year is already registered to Ingram Micro. (Looks like they bought these at wholesale from Dell, then distributed it to online retailers). You need to call Dell direct and do a transfer of Ownership. Took me about 25 - 30 mins with all 6 of my pcs.
