It's a solid state HYBRID drive.....not exactly a solid state drive...it helps with the boot times as the previous person said.

Mine came with Windows 8.0. The HD is 7200 RPM. The 32 GB drive is a solid state hybrid drive, not a real ssd. But boot times are fast.
