Do you have to connect the 3-pin or can I just connect the 4-pin to power the fan?

This fan has 3 wires ( Red, Black, Blue ). Read being +12V, Black being ground, and Blue being RPM.  These fans do 'NOT' have PWM control, meaning your computer cannot tell them how fast to go. It's simply on...or off. The blue wire just exists to say "This is how fast I'm spinning" For pretty pointless reasons...To say its working, I guess. I didnt use this for a computer, So I cut the blue off, and just gave it a +12V power source. Just mind, being Delta, These are very powerful, thus..pretty darn noisy.
