Our Story
DrainWig was invented by our parents out of necessity. Raising five daughters with long, thick hair, they created the only no-touch hair catcher on the market—fixing one problem us girls created.
DrainWig has gained global recognition for its innovative design, earning features on various platforms, including a notable appearance on Shark Tank (Season 9, Episode 6, 2017). Where we secured a deal with Kevin O'Leary after receiving multiple offers.
What if my drain is already clogged?
First, remove any existing clogs for the last time! The DrainWig will not remove hair clogs already in the drain, but it will prevent all future clogs.
Which DrainWig is right for my Drain?
If your drain has a stopper, and you would like to maintain the function of your bath, we recommend our Bathtub DrainWig. After it is installed, the stopper is replaced, and the bath can be used as normal. This would include bath/shower combos and soaking bathtubs.
If your drain is stopper-less, such as a shower, then we recommend our Shower DrainWig.
Will the chain rust or break in the drain?
The DrainWig is crafted from durable plastic and rust-proof stainless steel, ensuring long- performance. Be sure to buy the authentic DrainWig brand, as counterfeits will rust and break apart, causing more headaches. The DrainWig is designed for durability and built to last.
How do you know when to replace your DrainWig?
The DrainWig will typically last 2-4 months, depending on use. This can vary greatly depending on how much hair goes down the drain. Periodically check the size of your hairball till you know how quickly you fill a DrainWig.
Can the DrainWig be reused?
Yes, the DrainWig can be reused if you're comfortable cleaning the hair off the chain.
What if my DrainWig is not catching hair?
First, be patient! The DrainWig is designed to catch only the hair that causes a clog in the p-trap. Second, it is very rare, but occasionally a plumber will install a p-trap in a non-standard location under the drain, and the DrainWig will not be long enough to catch the hair.
What if I forget to remove the DrainWig?
You will be shocked when you witness how big the hairball can get and still slide through the bathtub drain. If you leave it in too long, you may need to put on some rubber/vinyl gloves to help it along. In the worst-case scenario, you may need to remove your drain cover to remove the DrainWig chain. Look on the bright side: you will be the proud owner of a huge hairball!

Simply thread the stainless steel chain through the top of your shower drain cover.
Catch The Hair
As you shower, your hair gets tangled in the stainless steel chain and rubber whiskers.
Remove Hair Tangle
After 2-4 months, the DrainWig will be full of hair. Just pull it out through the drain cover.
Toss and Replace
Toss it in the trash, and replace it with a new one. It's that simple!

Remove the stopper and guide the whiskers through the crossbar.
Slide Under The Crossbar
Slide the Connecting piece under the crossbar. Turn on the water to guide the chain down.
Replace the Stopper
Simply replace the stopper and enjoy your bath as usual. Replace the DrainWig every 2-4 months or when the water slows; toss it in the trash and replace it with a new one. It's that simple!
