Do you know if a fan can be attached to this heatsink for cooling?

Yes it can. The easy way is to attach it via zip ties going under the grooves of the top part of the heatsink or under the heatsink away from the actual cpu. If you have a dremel you can also dremel out notches to attach a fan that has heatsink clips.
