The Dyson Hot+Cool Jet Focus AM09 is a fan heater for people who want one appliance for year-round comfort, with ceramic heating for cold weather and amplified airflow for cooling in warm weather.
Recommended For
- People who want one appliance for supplemental warmth in cooler months and fan airflow in warmer months, rather than storing separate seasonal devices.
- People who need targeted warmth while sitting at a desk or relaxing nearby; the AM09’s Focused mode directs heat toward a person, and Consumer Reports found it heats a seated person quickly in its test.
- People who want to move supplemental heat or airflow between rooms; reviewers describe the AM09 as compact and light enough to carry around the home.
- People who want to warm a room they are using without running central heating for the entire home; Consumer Reports found it heated a standard-size room quickly in its test.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- On a chilly morning in a bedroom or home office, use diffused heat to take the chill off the room; a review found it raised the temperature of a medium-sized bedroom during testing, though results depend on the room and its insulation.
- While working at a desk or sitting in one spot, aim focused heat at yourself instead of heating the whole room; reviewers describe this mode as useful for warming a nearby person, such as someone with cold feet under a desk.
- When a small or medium room feels cold, choose diffused airflow and oscillation for broader heat distribution; this is intended for room heating, but the result will vary with room size and insulation.
- On a warm day, use the fan mode for a breeze while reading, working, or relaxing; it circulates air for personal cooling rather than lowering the room temperature like an air conditioner.
- Before bed, set a low airflow level and a sleep-timer shutoff for a bedroom; reviewers found lower settings less distracting, while the timer lets the unit turn off after a preset interval.
