The Dyson Outsize is a cordless stick vacuum designed for large-home cleaning, with a bin 150% larger and a cleaner head 25% wider than the Dyson V11; it suits households that want to cover more floor per pass and can use up to 60 minutes of runtime.
Recommended For
- People cleaning larger homes who want a cordless vacuum with a wider floor head and larger bin to cover more floor and pause less often to empty it.
- Pet households that regularly vacuum shedding from floors and upholstery and want a dedicated tool for picking up hair.
- Households with a mix of hard floors and carpet that want one cordless machine with a floor head designed to adapt across surfaces.
- People who prefer cordless cleaning for stairs and occasional above-floor jobs, and are comfortable handling a larger, heavier stick vacuum.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- In a larger home, clean several rooms in one session without stopping to change outlets; the wide head covers more floor per pass and the larger bin can mean fewer interruptions to empty it. How much area one charge covers depends on the selected mode and cleaning conditions.
- For regular pet shedding on floors and carpets, use the main cleaner head to pick up fur; its de-tangling design is intended to reduce hair wrapping, and independent testing found strong pet-hair pickup across surfaces.
- When moving between carpet and hard floors, continue cleaning with the Motorbar XL head; Dyson says it adjusts power across floor types, while its bristles are designed for carpet and filaments for fine dust on hard floors.
- For pet hair on upholstery or in tight spots, switch to the hair screw tool rather than maneuvering the wide floor head; Dyson describes the tool as designed for upholstery and long or pet hair.
- For a quick everyday pickup, take the vacuum from its wall dock, clean the spill or tracked-in debris, then return it to charge; the countdown display helps you monitor remaining runtime, though higher-power cleaning uses the battery faster.
