EA brings the "heroic driving experience" to its popular Need For Speed franchise in Need for Speed: Undercover. Using the physics system form their ProStreet title, drivers can now pull off stunt-driver quality moves like bootlegger turns using throttle, gear shift, brakes and emergency brakes in combination. The in-game camera will pull back during these maneuvers to provide a cinematic view of the action for better situational awareness.
Set in the stunningly-rendered Tri-City Bay you are an undercover cop tasked by a government agency to go deep undercover in the local underground racing scene in order to bring down a crime syndicate – one leader at a time. Tri-City Bay is a huge open city featuring ports, downtown, residential and industrial areas and mountain roads among other environments. All of these are linked by a massive highway system with realistic traffic models – you can chase down your quarry at high speed, but you can also evade a foe by causing a big rig to jackknife across the highway as you continue your race onto a high school football field and through a mansion's marbled driveway.
Of course, such behavior attracts the attention of the local authorities and cinematic police chases have returned to the franchise. Your evasion skills will be put to the test as you try and elude the police helicopter. There is also plenty of racing action throughout the area to accompany the missions with the opportunity to earn cash to modify and upgrade the performance of your rides. The auto sculpting feature returns and the accidental body work that will occur in collisions will progressively deform the vehicles. Buckle up!
Need for Speed Undercover makes a hard left this season and races towards the action movie genre. In Undercover, EA challenges drivers to test their driving skills while completing new complicated missions.
