I am not sure about compatibility using the 3.0 usb devise in a 2.0 usb laptop and any problems using my Cisco router?.  please advise.

USB 3.0 devices are backwards compatible with older USB slots, so this product will work just fine for you. You won't enjoy the full speed of USB 3.0, but you'll enjoy the full USB 2.0 speed.

Is this item compatible with windows 10?

Win10 drivers have not yet been released but I had no problems getting the Win7 driver to work in compatibility mode. Admittedly, I only tested it briefly but it connected and remained stable for 15 minutes. 
I'm going to be a stick-in-the-mud and remain on Win7 for my home network and in that environment this wifi adapter runs solid and speedy with my Edimax dual-band router.

I got this and using drivers in win 10 or win 7 pro cant see my 5g network only the 2.4 g  any one help me with this?

I'm currently using windows 10, but even before that when I was using 7 I had no trouble with the 5G signal. (aside from range/walls or other interference)

I'm currently using version 1027.4.1120.2014 (2/17/2015) from Realtek Semiconductor Corp.  (It's a bit old, but like I said, I've had no trouble with either 2.4/5G signals)

Likely you've already received this kind of tip, but make sure that the router settings themselves are set to broadcast the signal, and that the light for the 5G signal on the router is running.

It might even be the type of encryption you use (if any), but I will be the first to say that i'm no expert.  All I know is that with the above conditions, I've had no problems that disconnecting or rebooting couldn't fix.

What is the range of this adapter?

With no more than the usual obstructions (I have thick walls and a lot of floor-length mirrors in my home so you may get better performance) I noted an operational range of about 35-38 feet paired with the Edimax AC1200 router. Signal strength is great to that range but drops off almost immediately outside that. Hope this helps you out.

does it work smoothly on window 8.1?

I bought the product for use on an Apple Macbook Pro. It worked fairly well, however I did not notice an increase i speed. Since Apple updated its operating system (10.10 ), I haven't been able to use it. Company need to introduce new drivers.

It's been working perfectly on my computer with Windows 7 Home Premium edition, and so it should also work on Windows 7 Professional Edition.

It says  Draft 802.11ac. So does that mean its not the finalized version of AC?

The Adapter came out when they were still waiting for the 802.11ac to be approved by the IEEE. The standard was developed from 2011 through 2013 and was approved in January 2014. They just never get to update the description.

Manufactures being doing that since the days of 802.11a because usually take at least couple months to get approve by the IEEE. In the case of 802.11n the finish the draft of 802.11n proposal in 2007 and it wasn't approved by the IEEE until October 2009. For over 2 years, ALL the devices sells on the market were label as Draft 802.11n.

I being using this for the pass couple months and the speed and range are match what they advertised. Pair this adapter with Trendnet AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Router (TEW-812DRU) (That's my setup at home). I clocked over 100MB/s transfer speed which the two are separate by a floor compare to less than 30MB/s using the router that come with FIOS.  You can't go wrong with this adapter.
