Does this work with Win 10?

Yes, it works with Win 10.  One of the biggest pluses for me is that the Type C connector charges my Pixel phone at full rapid charge.  I purchased one for my computer two years ago and another when I built my wife's newest PC last year.

How long is the USB cable?

I didn't measure it to get an exact length but I think it's about 20 inches.

What is that power connector inside?  Is that 15 pin power sata?

Yes, it's a SATA power connector.  It also has a USB3 female connector connector.  Mine is not in use.  It's sitting in my recycling pile waiting to be (ecolologically) dumped.  Can't remember what didn't work, but I've had bad luck with this type of device.  I think I'm on my 4th purchase of  a front panel USB/SD card device.  Hope you have better luck than I.

It apparently uses one a single 19-pin USB3 header for all 4 or 5 ports. Most (all?) motherboard specs say these headers support two ports each.  What does that mean? Is it reliable when using 2 ports, and hit-or-miss when using more at one time?  Does it matter which two ports?

I am using an MSI 787-G43 with windows 10.  When connecting 2 flash drives, a microSD, a regular SD and my HTC U12+ (USB C) at the same time, in Device Manager I see 2 hubs - the thumb drives are each connected to different ports of the first hub - the SDs appear to be sharing a port on the same hub. The phone is connected to the second hub. All are functioning, and I am able to move files between the various drives.

I have discovered issues when using multiple ports at the same time.  Specifically, I was using a Bluetooth dongle in the type C port and a mouse in the left type A port.  The result is that it tried to flip between the two ports.  I've not done any testing beyond that recent issue.

Question 7

What if you just plug it into the USB3 header on a motherboard? Will all of the card readers and USB3 ports work? Or, does it also require the SATA power to be plugged in?

I'm sure it requires SATA power cable. Came with an adapter from 4-pin hard drive power cable. All the front panel inputs/socket connections inside are routed to the USB cable through a sophisticated IC that likely switches the sources into the USB cable; so without power, nothing. The USB cable mine came with is only 18" long, had to extend it for my application.
