Our building has a router on the third floor but it does not work for people on the second floor who want to use wireless.  Would this be a solution?  Could we put it on the second floor and keep the router on the third floor?  Our building is a 3 story building with approximately 9000 sq ft per floor.

Yes, you could most certainly use it for that application. The one requirement would be that there needs to be an Ethernet cable connecting this access point to your router. After that is set up, you can duplicate the wireless network name and security settings on this device (just be sure to use a different channel, or set this access to AUTO channel), and your users will have a seamless experience connecting to the same network in both locations.

Will this device have the same ssid as my current home network?

Yes you can set it up to have the same SSID and settings but this device is much more than that. It offers the ability to extend your existing wireless service. But, I have found this little device not only can do multiple SSIDs with smart tags but also enables you to have a much bigger reach then other wireless routers. In my book I would not buy anything other than EnGenius. Don't forget to get the EnGenious PoE Injector so you can just run one network cable to the device no need to run a separate poser source at the device location. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars.

Can this be used as PoE only? If so, does it need an injector or any other device? Meaning, can just plug it in to LAN, configure and go? Thanks.

It can be powered by POE only. you don't have to use the included power adapter. It does not include a POE injector, you would have to buy one. It is 48V

Varies for each building depending on construction. We have better range with this device than any other we have used in the past.

Question 5

I want to have two SSID's on this AP. One SSID would be for employees (LAN and Internet) and one for guests (Internet Only). Is it possible to create the guest SSID so that the users only have direct access to the Internet but no access to the LAN? I'd like to do this without requiring guests to login to an authentication portal page. Thank you.

Yes, this Access Point does support segmentation of your wireless networks.  You can use SSID to VLAN mapping feature of the AP to separate your wireless networks.
