Fantastic Bridge, Works Great, Very Consistent

Pros: This is the easiest bridge I have ever set up. Has excellent range, it really reaches out there and finds the wireless signal you want to bridge and writes the provisioning changes for you after you save and then apply them.

Cons: Took me longer to mount on building than it did to provision, my fault not the product.

Other Thoughts: No problems setting up and changing LAN IP like others have had, I can only guess they were not fully saving and rebooting the device correctly.

Great product for price

Pros: Works great for my purpose. I use it to give wireless to a neighbor. There is maybe 100 yards and a HVAC shed between us and she gets 3 bars in her house.

Cons: A little tricky to set up
Easy to lock yourself out
Hard to get a static ip that you want (it comes with 192.168.1.1 which is always the router ip for most homes so you end up with a conflict)

Other Thoughts: Remember there is something on the screen after you make a change that says "Commit Change" or something to that nature. Just because you make a change and press ok doesn't mean its in memory yet.

Absolutely Worthless

Pros: Has a light that says it is connected to the WiFi and three bars. If it worked, that would be good.

Cons: Atrocious documentation. Even the on-line youtube stuff I found is unfocused and not helpful. Absolutely useless. I am simply trying to extend an in house wireless network. I tried doing it using another wireless Netgear router using a T10 cable at the other end of the house. Despite three days of trying, that didn't work. After another day of research I learned about this device. Sounded great. After more than two days, it's useless and there is NO documentation on how to use it. As others say, you can't change it's IP address. I had to change the master router. I'd love some feedback that I'm all wrong. i don't think so. Worst investment I've made on NewEgg

EnGenius ENS202

Pros: Excellent range, And well constructed. We live in the country outside of town and ants get into everything. But not this time! Pretty much same setup as most routers. default ip is 192.168.1.1. You have to manually set you're iPv4 settings on your pc to connect to the web interface. Instructions included. and easy to follow. Wiring is a snap. Lots of modes to choose from.

Cons: Good luck changing the default IP on this. after constant resets I gave up. I'm not changing every IP on my network for one device.
No DCHP server which would have solved this problem. Not like I have to worry about double NAT if I am in the garage looking up part numbers for car repairs, etc.

Other Thoughts: Well built device still could use some fine tuning on the firmware.
Excellent device for the price. as most would cost alot more for the range, power, and features. So yeah a steal for the price!

EnGenius ENS202

Pros: The EnGenius ENS202 proved to be very reliable over these last few weeks, the setup process was fairly easy and straight forward. The ENS202 is well packaged and seem to be of great quality, to start off with I first started using this at my home, and was so impressed with the range that I now use it at my workplace as there is a dead spot in the farthest reach of our warehouse. In both situations, on average I received about 10 Mbps moving 700 Mb files, and if I was to guess my pc's at work are maybe 30 yards from the ENS202. The PoE injector seems to be great also, as I had to run 50 ft of Cat 5 to the ENS202 mounted to the pole in the warehouse, it also has led's so you know you are getting power and activity to the device.

Cons: As of right now I really can not think of any cons for this device, like I mentioned before I have been using this for a few weeks now and has be reliable and every day I go to the pc's in the back, I always have a full signal.

Other Thoughts: This is my first EnGenius product, and thus far I am satisfied with the ENS202, and if this device keeps on going, I will not be hesitant to purchase more EnGenius products, but now I will have to get another ENS202 for my home because like I mentioned, I am using this at the workplace.

Pros: Setup wasn’t bad at all. They include a POE Injector, for those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a power adapter you have near your router or switch that sends power over the ethernet since not enough power can be sent by router alone. So in speed testing this I used CAT6 and gigabit ports everything from PC to device. I copied large (over 1 GB) medium (2-4MB) and small (tens of thousands of tiny files) to and from a RAM drive to a RAM drive. This I tested it from about 6 feet away from the device, so you can’t expect to get faster speeds these these:
Large Files: 11.21MB/sec
Medium Files: 11.08MB/sec
Tiny files: 0.9MB/sec
Two things you will notice. While connected at Wireless N (300mbits) you can see that 100mbits is the bottleneck here. I bet you anything the wired port they put on the back is only a 100mbit port, not a gigabit port so that’s kinda stupid, but I’ve seen that a lot with these little devices. I don’t doubt it has a legitimate wireless N chip inside, but we all know it’s only as fast as the slowest component. The second thing you’ll note is it’s pretty awesome speeds copying medium sized files. Almost the same as large files, which is very impressive. I had to do the test a few more times in both directions to make sure. I would expect near half the speed of large files and have never seen anything so fast for medium files, albeit port limited. So hats off there. Now for range or distance, I had this mounted on the front of my house, and I went inside my neighbors brick house, about 130 feet away (NOT line of sight, about 40 degrees off). I could connect, but max speeds for large files were less than 1MB/sec. But that is some really impressive range. The antenna is certainly directional, but I still get a good signal in my house from behind the device, and to the sides. I would certainly consider this device, throwing this inside my house too, pointed inward so my whole house could get some wifi since this is a legitimately strong antenna.

Cons: 100mbit bottleneck, and no name Chinese are the only cons I can see for this device. But they get props for allowing it to be tested, and it tests well. That’s the only reason why I give it four stars. They include no Ethernet cables too, but that’s fine.

Other Thoughts: They put the default IP @ 192.168.1.1, but since half of routers have that as their default IP, and you’ve got the mess of POE injectors, they really should have put it somewhere, anywhere else. I had this outside over a month, in temperatures over 100 degrees F. It’s rock solid and fine. Who knows how it will hold up, but I am impressed and I am certainly going to keep this.

Wifi Bridge or Wifi Pier?

Pros: Works very well with nearly any existing LAN or WAN with an as expected slick web-based configuration interface. The product is very well self contained and is surviving on my back porch wall that gets hit by the sprinklers at nights. This product works very well as a WiFi range extender for outdoors, back yards, garages, etc...

Cons: The product description is very deceiving as one of the primary labeled features is "Outdoor Client Bridge/Access Point." Calling this product a WiFi bridge is like calling a pier a bridge. If the product came packaged in pairs (2 of these units are required to function as a Wifi bridge) then that would be different. Without a pair of these you are left with trying to bridge the distance with just your WiFi router and a receiver that can then populate a separate remote LAN with network access. Another problem is that you first must configure the product by directly plugging it in to your PC's wired connection. Launching the configuration web address with the device after simply connecting it to your LAN will not suffice.

Other Thoughts: Despite a dramatic gap between marketing terms and the actual available functionality the ENS202 works well as a WiFi extender and does so in a very discreet package.

Fair warning if you intend to use this as a WiFi bridge budget for buying 2 of these units.

To address another reviewers concerns about the ENS202 not having 5Ghz band: The 5Ghz band is only useful over short distances, after which the signal strength diminishes beyond useful range. 2.4Ghz band even if congested will far out perform a 5Ghz band at distance. Lacking gigabit capability and a 5Ghz band radio in this product are not cons as having these features will not effect performance in a positive manner.

Excellent value for the money

Pros: - Inexpensive
- Lots of options in the GUI
- Excellent range
- Easy configuration for intermediate users. Beginners might struggle a little without some basic wifi and networking knowledge, but it's still doable.
- Includes PoE injector (more on that)
- Speeds were in line with what you would expect
- Good packaging
- Compact size
- Strong transmit power (400mw)
- Supports enterprise level features including 802.1x RADIUS and VLAN tagging

Cons: - PoE Injector feels a big cheap. I don't have a PoE switch at home, but I would hope this could just run off a PoE switch like any other small devices like this.
- Not dual band. There is another version that is on the 5 gig band, but it would be nice if the device had the option to switch from one band to the other without a separate purchase.
- Ethernet ports are not gigabit. Not a deal breaker since even at 300 megabit, unless you are sitting super close, you'll get around 100 megabit when all is said and done with overhead, but it would be nice to have the bandwidth just in case all things being equal you had the bandwidth via the wifi.
- The main page for this adapter says that this operates on the 2.4 band, which is true, but it also claims that it operates on the "less congested 2.4 ghz band." For anyone that knows ANYTHING about wifi, the 2.4 gig band is the MOST congested. Not the least. It's the 5 gig band that is the most open. I think it's just someone messed up on their marketing materials and copied and pasted from the 5 gig version.

Other Thoughts: None of these cons are enough to remove an egg, unless this can't run off a PoE switch which I haven't been able to confirm yet. Other than that, what you get for the money is an awesome wireless bridge or directional AP on the 2.4 gig band. It's as simple as that. Pointing the thing out my window and into my neighborhood I was able to pick up over 50 distinct SSIDs which was pretty crazy considering all of my devices see maybe 3 not including my own at any given time. Point is, this sucker can go far. I wish I had been sent a second device to test with so I could see just how far the point to point went, but with what I had (ASUS, Linksys, and TP-LINK routers), the results were encouraging for someone wanting to use this between buildings.

Overall value is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these products (though the version in the 5 gig band) to anyone needing an inexpensive wifi bridge or directional AP.
