Question 1

I would like to mount this unit on the roof of our main house which has concrete walls and transmit to our guest house (also concrete)  to a reciever on the roof and bring it by cat 5 wire or wireless into the house.  We curently have a booster that works outside the wall of the guest house but doesn't make it through the walls.  Will this unit solve the problem?

This unit works great for long distances. I would set it up as an AP and see if the signal will reach to your guest house. I used it in a similar scenario and all I needed was one EN202EXT to cover my second location. If you still have an issue you should be able to configure it as a wireless bridge to extend the wireless into your guest house using 2 of these. I recommend it. I used many of these with no issues. Make sure the code is up to date.

Do i need to run and ethernet cable to the location where i want to mount this out side?

how does it get power with out and eathernet cable?

im installing a ECB-600 inside....

The ENS202EXT requires an Ethernet connection (Cat 5e or Cat 6) if you wish to use it as an access point.  The power is conducted through the Ethernet cable - as far as I can tell there is no separate power input jack on this model.  But with an ECB-600 indoors perhaps all you need is a weather-resistant wireless repeater - no Ethernet cable needed with those.  I've not used the ENS202EXT in that way before but I suppose it's possible to use the power injector and a single length of Ethernet patch cable just to power the unit.  I'd be inclined to look for a more straight-forward solution than that, though.

Question 3

Is this safe to leave inside my attic / soffit area? I need to boost my signal in the yard, but am unable to get a cable run externally.

Does the unit get hot? will I have to worry about radiation levels if used indoors?

I live in the Arizona desert, I use mine in a un air conditioned room which gets well over 100 degrees. the specifications limit the ambient temperature to 158ºF max and -4ºF Min.

I wouldn't worry about the radiation levels, If you use a cell phone you are probably getting much more.

Do I need a poe switch for this AP or can it use direct power to setup?

This unit is POE only, but the power supply and injector are provided. Basically, you run the network cable near a power source, route the network cable through the power injector and plug the AP into that cable.

i need to amplify my wifi from home to workshop (approx 250 ft). what is the best way to go. Have line of sight but do not want to run eithernet cables. maybe outdoors ?? have looked at so many options but really do not comprehend.. help please

Buy two. Put one on each end. Go into the Engenius devices' control panels and connect them together using "Bridge" mode. This is the wireless equivalent of running an Ethernet cable between the two locations.  At the workshop end, plug another  wireless access point (this is a third device in addition to your two Engenius devices). into the remaining Ethernet port on the workshop Engenius device. Your two Engenius devices will talk directly to each other wirelessly  to carry the signals between your home and workshop. Your computer(s) or mobile devices at or near your workshop will connect wirelessly to the third wireless access point that you plugged into the Engenius device in your workshop. Will  provide a very strong and reliable signal coming and going. Good luck.

It seems to me that the IP65 rateing and the spec of 0 to 90% RH non condensing don't go together. IP65 requires Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. Also, I don't know any place to mount it outside where  the RH does not sonmetimes exceed 90%, even condense without some aditional enclosure, so what gives??

I am a test engineer in the wireless communications industry.
IP stands for "Ingress Protection". It comes from international standard EN 60529. The first number after the "IP" is for solids, and the second digit is for liquids. In general, "water proof" is used to describe IP67 and higher, although nothing is truly water proof...another subject...
The environmental ratings for temperature and humidity are not related to EN 60529. manufacturers of products with PCA's (printed circuit assemblies) must specify to avoid condensation that could short out parts.
Relative humidity is a local phenomenon. The relative part is dependent on temperature. Since the ENS202EXT is an active device, it generates some heat. This will ensure that the RH in the enclosure is always lower than the outside environment, therefore no condensation will occur.
I suggest mounting the ENS202EXT in the most protected environment that is available at the desired location. It should give you years of reliable service, as mine has for me. It is a big and worthy upgrade from the low quality consumer grade products that flood the market.

I live in a Recreational Vehicle community that provides free internet service, but the signal is marginal and sometimes non-existent at my RV.  The WIFI system is an Engenius brand, but I don't know the model #.  I want to boost the signal from the park WIFI and connect to my own personal wireless router so I can connect my printer and other devices securely.  Is an Engenius ENS202EXT a suitable device for what I want to do?

This is a suitable product for what you want to do. You will get best results if there is a clean, no obstruction line of sight between the two devices. Results will degrade if that is not the case. Metal and trees can cause signal strength problems, especially big trees with lots of leaves in the way of the signal.  Mount it externally   above the level of other RV's if possible . You will most likely be using this device in bridge mode.

Going to use this on a farm.  Do I need to get a route in the shop to hook the 2nd antenna to, that the computer will hook in to?

Not sure of question:
This unit used as a access point converts wired IP into WiFi.
To convert WiFi back into wired IP you need a bridge.
This unit can be a AP or Bridge, not a the same time.
I address my units with a static IP address (use the same range as
your router) I use addresses in the 220-225 range. Ex 90.0.0.225
Bridges that I use are ERB9250 (1 Wired Port) or ERB300H - 4 Ports. I have used Engenius for a few years now - With great luck.
