I have a dead zone in my house for internet access, will this extend the range of my existing router?

Yes it will.  It actually creates a second wifi network that your device can connect to. As an example, in my house my base network is "Home"... I configured the repeater to create a second network "Home_repeater".  All of my devices (e.g tablets / iPhone etc) recognize both an will automatically connect to the one with the stronger signal.  Devices can talk to each other across the two networks.  For example, I can stream video files from a computer on "home_repeater" to my google tv device on "home"

With that said I have noticed that the repeater periodically drops internet connection and I have to manually reset it by unplugging it for a few seconds.  Sometimes it will go weeks between resets... Sometimes every other day.  A nuisance... But better than no wifi in a good portion of the house.

Can I use this bridge to communicate with an extender which is extending my wireless cable modem/Router?

Yes, I have a wireless router and two of these units. I have it set up so the 1st range extender communicates with the router (using the routers ssid)and is in the house. I changed the ssid of the extenders output and set up the 2nd range extender in an outbuilding using the 1st extenders output ssid and changed the second range extenders output to a different ssid To extend the range even farther. I wanted a clean signal to the house but you could have them all on the routers ssid. I get 5 bars a very long distance from the router. With just the router I couldn't connect from the outbuilding and with one range extender I had to stay at the north end of the building to get 5 bars and had one bar at the other end of the building. Now it is 5 bars everywhere!

Will this product connect to my modem or does it only work with other routers?

I did not purchase this device for connection to a modem and it is not designed for that purpose - no, it is not a router.  It is designed to extend internet wirelessly.  You connect this to a wireless router or node and it permits hard wiring other devices to your network through the wireless connection.  What you need to connect to a cable or DSL or Fios modem is a router, wireless if you want wireless connection.  I used the EnGenius ESR9850 (older model which may have been replaced by now) and it has worked flawlessly with the media bridge.

want to boost power from router in upstairs office to smart TV in den, is it difficult to set up?

It is just like setting up your router. If you know your router settings, it will be just like setting it up originally. It will extend the range as I had the same issue. Occasionally but rarely, I have to re-boot the unit just like the router. The status lights will indicate when all is good.

Question 5

I have an office 160 ft away from my home with my wifi and phone with Charter.  I cannot get  signal in my home or phone reception.  The Charter tech said this would give me a better signal.  Will this fix my problem?

I've bought two of these and think they are excellent however they aren't going to put out a signal that will go through two walls and cross 160 feet as packaged.  Mine are used to receive a wireless signal and repeat it rather than direct connected to my network and be the main transmitter. For the one that is over 100 feet from the signal source I had to change the antennas to get the connection I needed.  I bought two 12 dbi antennas made by Amped Wireless, mounted the antennas on the outside of a steel building and fed the wires through a hole I drilled. Can i connect a ethernet switch?

Yes you can.  You can connect any type of device via one of the ports.  I use one of these to bridge across a parking lot wirelessly then have my building wired through it to serve my users.

Are the antennas interchangeable? How large of an antenna could I use to get better range and what model (From newegg of course) do you recommend for this product?

I swap the 2.5db antennas that came with it with some from an old netgear 5db and the range was better about 400 ft.

will this unit help increase my router signal in another building 50 feet away?

Provided there is no metal roofs /walls etc, this should get you your 50 feet. ours is about 100 feet or more line of sight and works well.

This item either works as an Ethernet bridge or a repeater to expand the reach of the router.  As long as the router works as a router should then you should be fine,
