I looked at all the software installed with my scanner and did not find anything like OCR, only multiple ways to modify images. My purchase was couple years ago so perhaps things have been updated since then...

Does this scanner auto recognize photo size?

I use Nuance Paperport, which opens the Epson scan dialog for the process and then can either save it as a JPG or send it to a graphics program.  I think it does present the photo in actual size, but I never really noticed because I have always been able to scale the scanned photo larger or smaller for my needs.  I have scanned several older 2x3 Polaroids at once and then "cut them apart" with Paperport or a graphics program and made them larger.  I use it mostly for photos and have been very happy with the results.  I hope this helps.

windows 10 64 bit compatible?

That's how I use it.  In fact the reason I got the V39 is that Epson would not provide a 64-bit Win 10 driver for my old 2850, (which I liked very much).  I like the V39.
