Only the outside frame is aluminum, the blades are just painted silver. It's actually a pretty tough aluminum if you're trying to mount it with the included self tapping screws; I had to manually cut threads with a tap and die set and secure it with bolts. Not too difficult if you have the tools though. Probably more info than you wanted, but hope it helps :)
