Does this card require external 6-pin power?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "External" but there is no power connection on the card for cables from the internal power supply.  I recall being a bit surprised about that.  If there was a way I would send you or post pics.  Hope this helps.

Is This compatible with VGA monitors?

I have 2 VGA connection monitors that I use with this card, but I had to get the VGA to DVI adapters for them.  Obviously I don't get the quality, but it still works for the time being.

Is this compatible with the asus pq5 pro motherboard?

Board has PCI-E slot so the card will work. That board is a small form factor so this card should be appropriate because it is not very long. Only limitation would be if you are installing it in a small form factor tower be sure that the height (how far it sticks up from the board) will not be too high to close the case. Hope this helps.

I am running this card on an ASUS P5G41T-M LX PLUS with a Core 2 Duo E7300 and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  It has run flawlessly ever since I installed it.

However, when I installed my second monitor, I could not get 2 DVI cables on the board at the same time.  The connectors collided with each other.  EVGA tech support says they have never seen this problem before even though I informed him I had cables from 3 different manufacturers and none of them work in the dual configuration.

Fortunately my second monitor has an HDMI input, so I am using a mini HDMI to HDMI cable for the second monitor.

Other than that, it's been a great video card for the price.

Hi - I have an older motherboard...it is a Biostar N61PB-M2S (Socket AM2 with (I believe) a PCI-E 2.0 x 16 port).  I'm running Windows 8.1 (32 bit) - will this card run on my configuration?

Windows 8 uses the same driver model as 7 and Vista. Any driver for this card should be 100% compatible with Windows 8, even if a driver specifically stating Windows 8 compatibility hasn't been provided by the manufacturer. You should always check the manufacturer's website to get the latest driver package available.

The age of your motherboard is irrelevant as long as it has the necessary PCI-E slot to use this card. However, from all specifications I have found for the motherboard you stated, your motherboard has a PCI-E x16 slot, not PCI-E 2.0 x16, which is required for this card.

Please consult any manuals you may have for your motherboard or contact the manufacturer to verify the type of PCI-E slot you have. But, it appears that you do not have a compatible configuration.

Does this card have audio in the HDMI out ? Do pretty much all these cards these days? I have a card which does not have audio in HDMI.

The card will pass audio through the HDMI output.
Be sure to install the GeForce driver in order to enable the audio drivers.

Is this backward compatible if my motherboard only supports PCI-Ex16 and not PCI-Ex16 2.0?

Yea I tested it in my old dell computer that was purchase in 2006, that has PCI-Ex16 and it works fine.

Question 9

how can I get the three outputs to show up as monitor one, two and three  and share the desktop across all three screens?  at present turning on the hdmi output disables one or the other of the dvi outputs.  please help I want my three monitors back!  :-)

This card may not support 3 monitors, the manufacturer's website might be able to tell you. However, if the car does support it, make sure the latest drivers are installed. After that right click on the desktop and select Nvidia control panel. Navigate through the left side task menu and under the display option, select set up multiple displays. A list should appear with your available displays. Select the displays you wish to use and in the next option, click and drag the available displays to the desired positions.

This says it's mini HDMI.  Does it come with an adapter to use a standard HDMI or must I buy one?

I don't recall getting an adapter with mine. You're going to have to buy one separate.
