Question 1

According to the photos this unit has a Displayport (I am not referring to the HDMI or DVI ports) but I cannot locate any definitive answer from any place I have researched (including EVGA’s website).

SO a simple question to those who own the card; does it have a working Displayport?

I can't fathom why they would make one of the four ports on the back useless.  I haven't personally used the display port, but I assure you that if you get one that has no working display port, EVGA or Newegg will replace it.  I can only surmise that it's just not highly advertised as it's not widely used yet?  I'm not entirely sure.

Question 2

Will my Rosewill Power Supply support this or will I need to buy another power supply? I don't understand the 12 volt + rail and 42amp.

Your psu has 4 split 12V rails with the maximum 2 being 30amp rails. You should be fine though as the card only draws up to 250 watts which is around 21 amps (250w / 12V = ~21amps). Just be sure the card is connected to one of the 2 30amp rails and ideally have it be the only thing connected to that rail. Hope this helps you out.

That should be more than enough as long as you don't want to put two of them in your system. I'm running mine on a 650W and it words just fine. If you do plan on going with SLI I would get at least another hundred Watts. More is actually better because power supplies are more efficient when they are under less percentage load.

Does this card come with the backplate included?

No it doesn't have a backplate. It is an amazing card. Runs everything on highest settings I am extremely satisfied.

Will the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 6GB with PCI Express 3.0 be compatible for the 780i motherboard using PCI Express 2.0?

PCI-E 3.0 is backwards compatable with 2.0, so there shouldn't be any problem. 3.0 has a little more bandwidth from a data handling perspective, but it comes out in the wash depending on your system's capabilities. I had used a GTX 680 on both PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0 boards and there was a bit of speed difference on the 3.0 board but even on the 2.0 board, it was a tremendous improvnent. You can always upgrade to a PCI-E 3.0 board in your next build and carry the 780 over to it if you chose. If you have the means, pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

Can this card SLI with a 780gtx 3gig?

Absolutely not.  I actually called and asked EVGA on this and they said no.  This is the downfall of NVIDIA.  Where as with AMD you can mix and match video cards as long as they have the same gpu.  I sold my EVGA 6gig card and bought the sapphire Radeon R9 290 and it destroys this card.

Hi everybody, I wanted to know if I can mount a different cooler like the Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV cooler? will this also void the warranty. I'm going t o get this card soon.

Tampering with computer parts except for intel cpu like changing the cooler wont void the warranty but in this case yes. But imo it is not needed with 99% the gpu is at 65°

My mother board is an Asus p6t deluxe is this card compatible?

It's going to be based on the slot type.  PCI express 2.0 it should but i'd highly suggest asking the manufacturer first.  I think it will but you wont see it's max potential until you upgrade that board to a 3.0 pci express slot.

What good is the extra VRAM? Would I be better off buying a 780ti for a gaming/light editing itx build

For me at least, the extra VRAM was immediately useful. Watch Dogs on ultra was instantly using around 4-5GB VRAM, and I think Wildstar or something used a surprising amount as well (3.5GB? can't check right now, but at least one title I checked other than Watch Dogs was around there). Having this much VRAM provides the GPU with much faster access and much lower latency to loaded/streaming game resources in scenarios where the VRAM would otherwise be capped (resulting in frame drops and stutters as the data would have to be stored and read from the slower normal RAM and travel through the PCIe bus when needed). I had a GTX 580 1.5GB before upgrading to this, and Watch Dogs went from a sad compromise on some of the lowest settings, to a paradise of settings (that can push the card).

In general, the more you appreciate and desire higher quality effects and presentation, the more VRAM usage is going to skyrocket. The card may at times not even be able to handle the processing side of this on its own (~60fps+), as that's just how gaming can be, but it makes it the perfect choice for SLI'ing to push for more power. (can't weigh in on the editing part) It should still handle most high end games very reasonably. It's one of the absolute best choices available, and it's insane how quiet it stays while outputting what it does.

At the moment, the scenarios where the extra VRAM is beneficial may be/seem limited (modded and select titles), but I'm imagining it's going to help the card so much in the long run. The newer consoles have unified ram architectures, which translates to an increase in unavoidably high VRAM costs on PC. VRAM warnings in settings are often the minimum required amount.

Also, people can think they are not capping their VRAM on certain cards, but I think they're just not noticing there's some sort of VRAM overhead that will never report being used.
