Question 1

does this card need power run directly to it from the power supply? I have a nividia GTX 750ti right now and I don't see any cables going to it so im just a little lost as to what it means by it saying it has a 6 pin connector. thank you for your help and answers.

Yes. If I recall properly, it needs at least one of the 6-pin wires running to it. It may have two inputs, but I can't remember for sure

I switched from a 750ti about 2 years ago, so I was a little confused too. If your power supply is modular, just look for a cord that connects the PSU to the GPU. If it's not modular, just sift through the wires and find one of the 6-pin connections, and plug it right up!

Just a heads up though, thie 1060 has a power saver mode when it's not pushing limits, so the fan will spin on start up, then stop after a few minutes. It's totally natural. It'll spin back up if it needs to

Hello, I currently have an older pc setup and am looking to upgrade. I currently have a gtx 650 lol so would this be a HUGE upgrade?

Yes, definitely a HUGE upgrade. I upgraded to this from a GT 740 which has somewhat similar specs to the gtx 650 (same # of cores, same memory clock, same memory interface, almost the same core clock, you get the idea...). With the 740 I could run most games if I bottomed out the settings. It worked but it wasn't anything to write home about.

With the 1060 I can max out settings on many games with room to spare. For the price it really doesn't get any better than this card. I have also used it with an Oculus that I had borrowed from a friend, again it worked flawlessly. My pc isn't that old (built it maybe 2 years ago) so I can't say for sure how this card will perform if your setup is a lot older than that. But it's really an excellent card and it will absolutely be a massive upgrade from your gtx 650. If you haven't gotten the hint yet, I highly recommend it!

Currently I have a gtx 960 that has an 8 pin connector,  just ordered a 1060 and noticed the 1060 has a 6 pin connector.  What are my options.  I haven't had chance to open my pc up to check what exactly my psu has,  but is it possible that my psu just has 8 pin?  Is it possible to just plug the 8 pin (psu) into the 1060's 6 pin with 2 hanging off the side?  Lol  or is there an adapter I need?

Your PSU probably has at least one 6-8 pin, most do. It's an 8 pin with 2 that detach. So you should be fine, I don't think I've ever seen a PSU with only an 8 pin.

The card will perform really good in games like BF1 if you have the components that meet minimum requirement for the specific game. (RAM, CPU, MB)

Some reviewers of the ACX single fan say recommend this card (SC) instead since it has "better cooling". What's different about this cards cooler?

SC has denser/larger heatsink and copper cores.  SC has directed exhaust outside of case.
Means ~10 degrees cooler than the basic radial design of the non/SC
SC also comes with a small factory overclock and will likely be able to overclock higher than non-SC due to temps.

Will this card run games today on the highest settings?

It all depends on the game, and your resolution (which you did not state in your question what resolution you are running) - and also depends if you are running a 60 hz or 144 hz monitor.

Simply stated, for 1080p at 60hz, it will run MOST current titles at a smooth 60fps on highest / ultra settings. There are exceptions, there are many benchmarks across the net if you search that will give you more specifics than you ever want.

For 1080p at 144hz, if you want highest settings and maximizing the fps, then you will probably want to look at the 1070 gtx.  Same with 1440p at 60hz - the 1060 will work, but at med - high settings depending on the game... 1440p is 1070 territory, just like 1080p at 144h hz.

For 1080p at 60 hz, this is a good choice, but realize games / demand on power are changing quickly, and with Dx12 looming, who knows how "future proofed" you will be with a 1060....
