As long as a normal power supply, and probably much, much longer than your hard drive. I've only had mine for five months or so, but in that time I've done some heavy usage. The MTBF ratings tend to be accurate. The issue people have with it is that it is inefficient, not that it fails early. (75%, so when pulling out the maximum 400 watts, there would be (400/75)*25 watts wasted, that is, 133 watts would be pulled in and not make it out the other side.) This will unit last as long as any other power supply, as long as you don't try pulling over 400 watts.
