Say you wanted to SLI these things.  What motherboard(s) would allow proper thermal spacing?

Accepted Answer

Any motherboard that allows you to leave spacing between them would be ideal.  For example, a motherboard that can technically support 3 or 4 of these could fit 2 with decent spacing.  If you're planning on using multiple cards, though, you're better off with a 780 Ti; you'll still be able to achieve far more performance than you could possibly use for the next year or two, at least.  (Heck, one would be enough.)

Question 2

Will I run into any problems using a HDMI splitter for 2 4k monitors with this card?

More than likely I would get a display to hdmi cable if they exist. However you may be able to do it. I would submit the question to EVGA. The card is a great one, I am not on 4 but I am running 3 monitors. Only one for gaming. Multitasking like a beast. EVGA will know the answer.

What kind of machine would you need to run this beast?

Hi Steve- My Name is Brian , I am Chief of Video Engineering at a Post Production company. We bought this GPU card to run in a HP-Z820
work station, this machine is running Windows 7 and Resolve color correction software, the Resolve uses as much GPU Ram as you can get, this card has 12GB, the HP CPU has just enough internal space for the card with the other required boards we need to use. If we had more space in the CPU we would have used 2X Titan Black series.

I understand this is a monster, but can it run (with good airflow) by itself without resorting to liquid coolants?

Such as, can it handle being under load and not fry itself or other componentry?

Stock fans are almost always sufficient--they're just noisy.  That is, unless you're doing some serious overclocking.

Using any sort of PCIe extension on a motherboard that doesn't support it will slow the card down, technically speaking.  Will you notice a difference?  Dunno, but I wouldn't bother testing it; there's not really anything to gain.  The motherboard itself doesn't generate much heat compared to a graphics card, at least in that area.

I currently have a GTX 645 and I want a major upgrade. With this card fit?

I whould get the new 980 it will perform better and honestly the drivers seem to work better as i have had repeated issues in various games with this card and i spent full price get the 980 evga card it is a solid performace and half the price with a lot less issues as it is more main stream

Can you use a Titan Z in a SLI setup with a Titan X?  I already have a Titan Z and am considering buying a Titan X to run them in SLI.  I've seen there are some ways to mix/match cards in SLI and that the memories had to match and they seemingly do (both have 12GB).

So can I SLI a Titan Z with a Titan X?

Would I run into problems using a VDI splitter for 2 4k monitors using this card?

It would definitely  depend on what you are planning on running. 4k on this card works alright, but i would definitely  hesitate trying to run anything too graphics intensive off of the one card. SLI would cut out the issue, but that would also eliminate the need for the splitter. Honestly, with the price of the card, your best bet would likely to go with the 980s, or 980 ti's for better performance for the price.

Can I install this card on HP DL380 or WS460 servers?

This GPU requires a PCI 3.0 X16 Slot and it uses 3 Spaces on the Black of your CPU, in addition it requires 2X Motherboard power cables it cannot use a splitter for connecting power. At this point I would recommend getting two of the new Titan X Cards(12GB VRAM)each and save a bit of money

Do both of the GPUs share or split the 12GBs of VRAM? Is only half of VRAM usable in games?

Yes that's my understnding. It should be far more than you will need for gaming.
