how much wattage does this card need ?

This card is older and gets all it's power from the AGP slot.  So a 280, 300, 400, 450 WATT PSU should be adequate.  Be aware that some older motherboards will not accept the 512 MB version of this card.  Google your computer model or motherboard model and see if other people have had success in installing this 512 MB version.  I have both the 256 MB version which works fine in my 11 year old Asus A7V8X-X motherboard and I bought this 512 MB version looking for improvements.  Alas, the 512 MB version will not work for me.  Later, I Googled my problem and discovered via various forums that no one else had much luck making it work on the Asus A7V8X-X motherboard either.  There should be no restrictions as to a 256, 512 MB or more video card but sometimes even an older motherboard with the most current BIOS version will not accept it.  So I am now stuck with a nice door stop.  So do your home work.  :-)

I have a Asus motherboard and need an AGP graphics card to play Minecraft. Will this work?

Minecraft Minimum Requirements:

CPU : Intel P4 or its AMD Equivalent (AMD K7)
    RAM : 2GB
    GPU : Intel GMA 950 or AMD Equivalent with OpenGL 2.1 Support
    HDD : At least 100MB for Game Core and Sound Files

Wiki says all 6xxx series support Open 2.1.... so it should work. 
Now how well is really the question. Probably very minimum specs.

I'm not sure about the voltage, This card is supported in Windows 7. There is no need for a high wattage power supply. If I remember correctly, the power supply in that system was likely 400W. Maybe even 350W. I purchase a couple of these cards to "upgrade" older systems for low budget Windows 7 builds.

will this card work with a Chaintech 9CJS Zenith motherboard?  One specification is that it must operate at 1.5volts

The motherboard is capable of providing adequate voltage to this card and it should be a good fit.  Be sure to check the BIOS instructions for any necessary adjustments required when changing from a PCI card to a AGP card.

Yes. I have it running 24/7 with WinXP and an occasional OS swap to Mint 15. Cooling has been no problem

Will this fit a Compaq Evo d510 SFF?

Hi Earnie,

My research says that the Compaq EVO d510 SFF has a AGP slot. So this card will work IMHO. However since the MB is in a manufacturers custom case, check for card size to see if it will fit and allow the case to be reassembled without crushing the AGP card and stressing the MB.

I have one of these cards and it measures 4 inches taller than the slot when it's plugged into the AGP MB slot. The AGP slot is 9/16 tall so to test for fit, cut a chunk of cardboard 4 9/16 inches wide and set it standing up on the MB and tape it to the AGP slot body to hold it upright and see if you can close the case. If you can't, this card won't work size wise unless closing the case completely isn't an issue for you.

Fanless? Dude, that's asking for a visit from the overheat police. Even the GeForce 4 had a fan.

I'd get this for its DX9 capability but when I saw it only went to OpenGL 2.0, I'm kinda turned off. Stupid Minecraft 1.7 asks for Open GL 2.1.
That one difference that lets me play Left 4 Dead and Half Life 2 with top settings, still wont let me play Minecraft... a game that doesn't even need Open GL 1.x.

I bought this video card for my daughter and she plays mindcraft all the time.  She has the latest version and all types of mods. So I don't think you would have any problems with it.

Want to run dual screens with this card ?

If you are interested and don't run mid to high end games with intense graphics, this card will run dual screens at the same time so you can have several open apps or docs at the same time spread over two displays. Like drawing in CAD on one screen and a web browser open to surf for parts on the other. As you can see on the card video ports- one must be a DVI connector [or use a VGA to DVI adapter] and the other the old VGA. In any case both will be detected by either Win7 or XP. Kinda fun to have the extra real estate !

I run two older ACER P191W VGA displays in 1440 x 900 pix 32 bit color mode with this card.
