This barebone, comes with a cpu (Intel celeron j1800), or a i have to buy that cpu along de barebone system?

Barebone system comes with a cpu, all you need is memory, a hard drive, and an os. Get a solid state drive and this thing boots to the os in about twenty seconds.

Question 2

Every one talks about the built in wi-fi, but the directions show it is an add-in mini-pci card?

I purchased two of these systems and loaded Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS on them.  The base Ubuntu install found drivers for the WiFi adapter.  They came up right away and got an address from my DHCP server.  There is no external antenna so I can't speak about the range or the transfer rates.   I'm using them strictly on a wired connection.

So, yes, they did come standard; no additional add-in card needed to be purchased.

I can't speak to Windows drivers.  They do come with a USB stick that [supposedly] has drivers, but I didn't even bother looking at them since I already knew (from research) that Foxconn does not include Linux device drivers.

Does it work with xp?

I do not know. The older models did, however, this model did not come with drivers and showed no signs that it does. I am currently running it with Windows 8. It is not fast enough to do 1080p video smoothly. The next model up, the iBT19, works like a charm, but also does not seem to support XP drivers.

Question 4

Been trying for weeks to get this to load Windows 7 64. Starts to install then when it get to the initial starting Windows preload screen it locks up with a red bar at the top of the screen? Tried Ram with speeds from 8500-1600. Tried from DVD external and flash drive, but still no luck. Anyone have a thought out there?

Sadly this system is not well documented. I too had the same problem and finally had to go to the Foxconn users forums to get the answer. When you power up the system go into the BIOS. Go to the "Boot" tab. Look for "CSM" configuration. This enables or disables the compatibility support module. You will want to enable this function. Within the CSM section there are several options. Set the boot option filter to "UEFI and Legacy". The last entry in the CSM section is for OS selection. You can set this for either Windows 7 or Windows 8.x. Exit and save.

The iBT18 and iBT19 are nice little systems well suited for everyday computing, but navigating the BIOS is not for the uninitiated. Your best bet for installing your OS is on USB flash drive. This option works very well. I've even installed Windows 10 evaluation copy on my iBT19. Good luck...

Can Win7 32bit be loaded and are there drivers for it?

I have installed W7Pro 32 bit on an older model of this nano-pc, but not this particular model.  Some of the drivers I have for this model appear to support both 32 and 64 bit.  However some have what appears to be 64 bit only.  I would verify with the manufacturer about your question.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Question 6

Would this be appropriate to use for my Plex Media Server?  I'm looking at Chromebox or Mac Mini also, but I don't need anything fancy... just something cheap to leave powered on 24/7 and connect to my network. I will be connecting a large external hard drive (yet to be purchased) for my media storage.

This would Work well. If you plan on streaming to many devices I would suggest the Foxconn iBT-29 as it has more processing power. I have used about 30 of these units for Point of Sale Terminals and they fun 24/7. Some Have been out in the field for several years. (older models). Also, you can install a mSata SSD (60gb) to store the OS and then put a large(2TB) 2.5" Spindle type HDD for storing media. I have one at home setup as a file server this way.

My device is 4gb ram, 120gb SSD, 500gb HDD. Attached is a wireless kbd and mouse. All work great.
My question is "Is it possible to switch between the ibt18 mode and TV mode and put the ibt18 to sleep then switch back to pc mode when done with the TV. All from the remote kbd?" Basically, is it possible to control TV HDMI input from the remote wireless KBD? Control of the Directv HDMI input from a Logitech keyboard would be nice.

To my knowledge no. You would have to use a remote control for the tv to change the input from PC to HDMI and then back. The wireless keyboard and mouse can't control that.

Does it come with Memory and hard-disk or should i buy them separate?

Doesn't come with memory or an HDD. Purchase separately. I bought a 120GB m-SATA for the boot drive and a 500GB 2.5" HDD for the storage. I'm currently only using 4GB of memory but it can take 8GB as you know.

Question 9

A reviewer mentioned the need to modify the BIOS in order to install Windows 7 or 8. Can you (or someone else) elaborate?

I'm trying to determine if I would have the technical ability to pull it off.

I've used these Foxconn Mini PC's for the better part of two years now for various work projects. I've ordered probably 60-70 over that time period.

This model however is the first one that uses an UEFI (Graphical with mouse ability basically) BIOS & it's DEFAULTED for Windows 8.X usage.

If you're going to install Windows 7, you will need to change a BIOS setting and it's kind of hidden. I don't have one of these systems handy with me at the moment but I will update my post tomorrow on how/what to change to make this work with Windows 7.

Question 10

Can I use with two monitor one in the vga connector and the other in the HDMI ?

I only used the VGA port to configure the operating system then only the HDMI port after the configuration.  I don't have two monitors to see if both will work at the same time.
