Does the case have snap clips for the side and top panels?

This case has magnetic attachment of panels.  It allows for very quick access to either side, front, or top panel.

I would consider this case not a good candidate for portability via vehicle for this reason.  When I pick it up to move to another room, sometimes a panel gets dislodged from its magnetic home.

Question 2

I have a hard time believing a 20lb tower has the listed dimensions of 17.76" x 8.27" x 16.34". Can anyone confirm the dimensions?

Yes... I have one here and measured it: 17-3/4"H (18-5/8 with feet) x 16-5/8"D (including side panel latch bumps) x 8-1/4"W.

I've used these exclusively for years. I think it is the best case for the size, cost and quality available today.

It's 20 lbs. because it is built extremely well with heavier steel, sound reduction panels applied to the inside of the covers and lots of extra detail inside to support peripherals and hide wiring.

Does this case come with a quick removal side panel?

Yes, the case features top-latching side panels which are designed for easy removal.

Will a NH-D15 SE cpu cooler fit here?

The NH-D15 SE CPU cooler will not fit in this case, as the maximum CPU cooler height supported is 169 mm.

No, this case does not support 5.25" optical drive bays.

What is the widest motherboard that can fit in this case?  I'm curious if the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme will fit.  Standard ATX boards are 9.6" wide and this board is 10.6" wide.  Looking at various photos, it seems like it will cover the cable management grommets but still fit.

The Fractal Design Define 7 Compact case is compatible with ATX, Micro ATX, and Mini ITX motherboards. Since standard ATX boards are typically 9.6 inches wide and the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme is 10.6 inches wide, it may cover the cable management grommets but should still fit within the case.

Can this fit a 280mm rad up top ?

No, the top of the Fractal Design Define 7 Compact can only support radiators up to 240 mm.
